400 years later, explorer’s death still a mystery (Henry Hudson)

It has been 400 years since English explorer Henry Hudson mapped the northeast coast of North America, leaving a wake of rivers and towns named in his honor, yet what happened to the famed explorer remains a mystery.

Hudson was never heard from again after a mutiny by his crew during a later voyage through northern Canada. That he died in the area in 1611 is a certainty, and he may have even been killed in cold blood, according to new research.

An oil painting from 1881 by John Maler Collier depicts Henry Hudson, his son and a crew member, presumably after a mutiny on his last voyage in 1611. New research points to evidence that he was murdered by crew who wanted to return to England.

It will probably be easier to find the remains of Henry Hudson than it will to find an authentic birth certificate for Barack Obama.

Didn’t his crew mates cut Hudson loose on a boat with no supplies or nothing, just adrift in the Hudson Bay? Damn, talk about cold...I would have just said “OK, OK...we’ll go back to bloody England!”

That's the story being questioned here.

Damn, talk about cold...I would have just said “OK, OK...we’ll go back to bloody England!”

If they'd let you live then they would likely have been...punished...for mutiny. Dead men tell no tales.

It was Bush’s fault. Hudson inherit a situation that was much worse than he had estimated. Make no mistake...the alternative was doing nothing and that was not acceptable.
