WASHINGTON (Reuters) - A vocal group of conspiracy theorists known as "birthers" are riling the White House with their persistent claim that Barack Obama is not an American citizen and therefore ineligible to be president. The claim that the United States' first African-American president was born in Kenya, not Hawaii, first emerged during his presidential campaign, but it has garnered more media attention in the summer "silly season," a traditionally slow news period when many Americans are on vacation. White House spokesman Robert Gibbs looked exasperated at his briefing on Monday when a reporter asked him, "Is there anything you can say that will make the birthers go away?"

Now Hawaii officials are saying that all birth certificates were destroyed in 2001. But on October 31, 2008, this contrary statement-
“There have been numerous requests for Sen. Barack Hussein Obama’s official birth certificate. State law (Hawai‘i Revised Statutes §338-18) prohibits the release of a certified birth certificate to persons who do not have a tangible interest in the vital record. Therefore, I as Director of Health for the State of Hawai‘i, along with the Registrar of Vital Statistics who has statutory authority to oversee and maintain these type of vital records, have personally seen and verified that the Hawai‘i State Department of Health has Sen. Obama’s original birth certificate on record in accordance with state policies and procedures.”

Those records should include a birth certificate, among other things.

Yeah, I was reading somewhere that Hawaii twins were born the same day Obama was, but their birth announcement was missing from those Hawaii newspaper ads. This suggests that their’s was deleted and Obama’s inserted in their place.
Agree. Even if he is a natural-born citizen, maybe he later lied and said that he wasn't a citizen in order to obtain financial aid & scholarships.
O.K. So he was adopted and became a citizen of Indonesia...Found that his foriegn student status was helpful in admissions and grant money to Occidental College and never bothered to become a U.S. citizen again...(Contrary to what slick thought, the U.S. doesn’t recognize dual citizenship)

No, Obama is not a natural born citizen simply because his father was of a foreign sovereignty (Kenya). I still believe that Obama was born in Kenya regardless. Per Article 2, Section 1 of the U.S. Constitution, one must be a natural born American citizen to serve as President. Barack Obama is NOT eligible for the Presidency because he is not a natural born citizen. John A. Bingham, primary framer, 14th Amendment, states- “Every human being born within the jurisdiction of the United States of parents not owing allegiance to any foreign sovereignty is, in the language of your Constitution itself, a natural born citizen.” Obama himself has stated that he is the son of a Kenyan- Kenya being a foreign sovereignty. Thus, Obama is not a natural born citizen even if he were actually born in Hawaii.

Gibbs did not sat obama was a citizen of the United States. He said that he was a citizen. He did not say of what country or what was his citizen status. Why not say “obama is a natural born citizen of the United States and here is a copy of his birth certificate so you can all see for yourselves...” The democrats are going to stall and stall and stall until something else comes up that captures the sheeple’s attention. If obama is in fact ineligible, our only hope is having the military remove the entire corrupt group because otherwise, absolutely nothing will be done about it. Perhaps the silent majority is about to awaken and make our founding fathers proud by exercising our 2nd amendment right, it was put there because they were smarter than the current group of idiots in Washington.

The fact they were in the same class reinforces the "same birth day, so where is the announcement" question. That can be explained in other ways, however.
The important point is that records that would clarify specific birth data for Obama are "missing".
