Little Bo Peep bride marries in stunning dress made of wool from her own flock of sheep

And the bride wore white - long, curly white strands of wool.

Louise Fairburn, who is an award-winning sheep breeder, decided to get married in a fleece from her own flock.

She designed the gown and took wool from her favourite rare Lincoln Longwool, Olivia.

And she extended the theme to the rest of her big day, putting her groom Ian, 42, in a waistcoat made from wool.

Mrs Fairburn even carried a Bo Peep-style crook and the ring bearer's cushion was made from a fleece....

As long as they didn’t dance down the aisle like idiots, I’m fine with it :)

LOL!! Yes, I saw that wedding entrance on YouTube. They have a request now for contributions to a charity -- kind of a nice idea! Actually, I thought that was rather well done, since it looks like their pastor and families were delighted by it. But I dread even thinking about the rash of bad imitations that are sure to follow....

Is that Tim Gunn? Snerk... he grows on you, if you have a strong ability to say to yourself, “let’s just look past a few mannerisms”...

Good thing it didn't rain that day or the dress would have shrunk! LOL

I love the dress! It looks fun to wear!

It must look beautiful in RL. At first glance I thought it needed some beads for accent. On closer examination, I saw that she did use beads. The sunlight in the photo seems to have washed out the details.
Fantastic how she used the sheep's main characteristic of dreadlocks for the skirt. The contrast of the tight curls with fluffy ones is awesome.

Wonder if people had trouble keeping their hands off of her skirt.
It'd be cool to see the dress in motion when dancing.

Oh and her new hubby's vest is beautiful! WOW!

No, but chicken feathers and some fresh, home-made tar would be a great accent for any divorce.

And lamb was on the wedding menu.

Guess they're not vegetarians! Also, very connected to the rural traditions. Grandma and Grandpa in the country had no qualms about strangling chickens or slaughtering hogs.

It’s beautiful, and if they’d shot the photo in TX, the wool would have gleamed as gold (we have a different sun than the rest of you guys).

what do you think?

I like her dress. The Groom's vest and tie seems a tad tacky though.

Can any one in vision Michelle Obama wearing the wool dress? LOL! Some one make a thread!

Thanks, Granny! I'll bet you COULD come up with something lovely for me. Probably not in white at THIS late date though, LOL! How about something in Champagne Pink?

Fashion-wise, I hate it; primarily for the bottom. I agree with the poster who thinks it looks like dredlocks. I love the top portion though. Philosophically, however, I love the uniqueness of it. The sheep are just adorable too.

I found the top a little bit underdone -- would have preferred maybe just a little tighter corseting or stays underneath the crochetwork, and a little tiny bit closer crochetwork to accentuate the contrast between the wild naturalness of the skirt and the marks of civilization up top -- but she does look comfortable. What I love about the skirt is the texture. I'm sure she fell in love with the springy feeling of this long-haired wool early on, and on many levels identifies with the ewes in their natural femininity.

It's kind of a Freudian statement: a lady above the waist, a natural animal below! LOL! Sort of like a lady faun....

There is a funny ad on the radio and a woman is complaining about the hot weather. She says someone smells like a “sheep farmer with a goat under each arm”. That ad always makes me laugh.

It’s a lovely dress, and one that she’d pay tens of thousands for, if she’d bought it in a wedding boutique. But it’s unique and special to her and her new husband.

I raise laying hens. If I ever get married again, I just don’t think a chicken feather wedding dress would look as nice, LOL!

Still thinking about that... it made me remember a hat style that was popular in the late 50s - early 60s. Imagine this in white or barely pink, ivory or palest blue, with a bit of decorative veil:

That's a beauty! I kid you not...my Grandmother Edith had a hat like this:

I absolutely loved it! She used to get Sis and I the most GORGEOUS Easter bonnets and fancy gloves and pretty white wicker purses. Man, that woman had style.

It was my OTHER Grandma that was the Country Bumpkin...I grew up to be more like her, much to my City Grandma's chagrin! Think, 'Oliver's Mother and how she doted on Lisa' in Green Acres, LOL!

What a great story!
Thank you!

If I wore that dress, I would be one big, red hive.
