Coyote survives 75 mph collision with car...

Daniel East and his sister, Tevyn, were driving at night along Interstate 80 near the Nevada-Utah earlier this month, when their car slammed into a coyote that scurried in their path, reported Rex Features.

Believing there was no way the wild animal could survive the 75 mph collision, the pair kept driving for eight more hours to their destination, where they finally inspected the damage to their car.

Then what happened, is what I want to know ? You don’t just gently lift an injured coyote out of your engine compartment I’m guessing...

Coyotes are tough little buggers from what I understand and from what is obvious from this picture! I remember once reading the NY Daily News years ago one ended up being found out on Long Island for cryin’ out loud! Don’t know how it got out there. If you know anything about NY, traffic on the LIE(Long Island Expressway) is murder!/sarcasm)

30 seconds into this story, I’m thinking a lot of the same questions?

What is up with these morons that report this stuff. Does it not occur to them to ask these questions; the “local animal control expert”?

Local to where? Nevada? Utah? New Mexico? Arizona?

My 11 year okd could have done a better job putting this story together.

This story is bull****! Look what happens when tweety flies in front of you at 50 MPH, poor fellow explodes!! Can only imagine something bigger at 75, also the amount of damage to the car, and the owner doesn't even stop? Yeah Right!!

Terrible thing to say. I’m glad he didn’t die. He looks young and is beautiful.

But it did manage to survive being dragged for 600 miles.

This story has a smell to it. What small vehicle has a 600+ mile range? Another site says they were driving a Honda Fit hybrid. The Honda Fit has an 11 gallon fuel tank. At an overly generous 40mpg, that 440 miles.

We hear coyotes every single night especially when they are mating. So, they make a lot of noise. Where else are they supposed to go when humans keep invading their habitats? I love hearing them...as for the racoons...well, I’m not thrilled with them...they can be nasty.

You’re very correct to call BS on this.
The physics don’t compute.

I remember seeing a car that had hit a duck at the GM Proving Grounds at about 80 mph and it took the carburetor clear off the top of the intake manifold.

I used to have a job that caused me to go to work at 2 am at the first of every month. I live just north of NYC. ONe night I was driving to work and saw a rather long German Shepherd crossing the road. Took me a while to figure out it was a coyote.

What kind of radiator in a small car can function with a large animal blocking the air passage? Strange...

I live in CA now and i hear them howling all the time,i am surrounded by protected land.
Check out the movie Collateral, one scene the taxi is driving down the street, stops at the lights and coyotes run across in front of them in LA...
It is a Tom Cruise movie ,but it is good.

You can hunt coyotes year round in AR. They like all animals are “cute” when little. Grown up are mangy and NOT cute. They also descimate other population of animals. Such as eating turkey eggs etc. They need to be hunted.
