Yesterday, Nov. 18th, something exploded in the atmosphere above the western United States. Witnesses in Colorado, Utah, Wyoming and Idaho say the fireball "turned night into day" and issued shock waves that "shook the ground" when it exploded just after midnight Mountain Standard Time. The fireball was so bright it actually turned the sky noontime blue

The Leonid meteor shower peaked this year on Nov 17. I suspect that you saw one of these shortly after the peak.

I know someone who lives there.
At the time when “War of the Worlds” was live on the radio and people just tuning in didn’t know it was just a show, the locals went nuts. They actually shot the water tower in Grover’s Mills!

The program running before of War of the Worlds on many stations ran over a couple of minutes and their listeners missed the part of the show that explained it was fiction.

The red giant Betelguese is supposed to go nova any time
in the next 1000 years. It would be visible to the naked eye
during the day. this sounds like a dead satellite.
