COLUMBIA, S.C. (AP) -- Authorities say a severely overweight South Carolina man stayed in his recliner without moving for eight months until shortly before his death.
Firefighters had to cut Tillmon Webb from the chair after his mother called paramedics because he was in pain. Greenwood County deputies say the 33-year-old weighed about 800 pounds when he died Wednesday at a hospital....

Wasn't there another person who laid on the sofa so long that he/she grew to it? We discussed the toilet problem with that case and no one had a rational excuse as to how someone could lay on a sofa for that long......... oh yuck..... I don't want to think about it.
(What if I grow to my freeping chair?)

Mac from Cleveland,
He ate the same way I eat when I get home from work I plump down in a recliner and my wife brings me my dinner on a tray. A 10-pc bucket of orinal flavor KFC and six (6) cans of coca cola. At the end of the evening when it’s time to go to bed she helps me get up.
The next day I do all over again.

It is not clear if he lived with his mother or wife or both. This is simply gross neglect by a family member(s).
These kinds of stories show up rather frequently. The overweight person has to be aided and abetted by one or more people who feed them, etc. If they didn't have a feeder, their weight would decline.
We read the story, shake our heads, and wonder how it happened. A person doesn't get to be 800 pounds or sit in one location for months without some assistance.
Recall the lady in Kansas who went into the bathroom and stayed for 2 years? She didn't starve, apparently.

I heard a story about a woman who sat on the sofa so long the fabric grew into her skin. The paramedics had to cut the sofa off around her! It is sad how overweight people get that the cant move. Then again...there are people in their lives that let it happen.
These stories are more frequent, of people growing into their sofa or chair or bed. Then, the paramedics have to cut a hole in the wall to get them out. And many times, they are transported to the hospital via flatbed truck.
We shake our heads and wonder how that person got in that situation, who abetted them, why they didn't seek help a few hundred pounds earlier, etc.

If only the government had mandated that all that delivery pizza and fast food he ate had the calories clearly written on it, this poor victim would have lived...

Exactly!
We surely have all noticed that many of our fellow humans are ENORMOUS. If those same people were self destructing, bycutting themselves, or taking drugs, or semi-conscious in public places they would be taken for medical care - NOT GIVEN KNIVES, DRUGS OR LEFT TO THEIR OWN DEVICES.
If the food police can force food manufacturers to label their products, surely the Surgeon General can compel by public service announcements that family members of malignantly obese people get medical help IMMEDIATELY!!!

Pressure sores (bed sores in the hospital) turn to gangrene and the smell is worse than feces...Its just rotting flesh on a living person...

He should have gone to a Nursing Home and got care and a diet a long time ago. If he had no insurance and probably no money he probably could get medicaid. He could have got help and he could have helped himself IF he had wanted to.
