So what stops them, if they are not a figment of some lunatic's imagination, from telling us how to switch from those awful fossil fuels to safe and plentiful fusion energy? Or they just like to snicker from behind the walls of their hideouts? How moral of them!

This basically disproves theories of this "boffin". The aliens, if present, are engaged in immoral acts. Thus they are not qualified to judge other species' morality - not any more than we are qualified to judge them.

Even if they are under some sort of Prime Directive, nobody said that such a directive is moral. If you see a plague devouring the civilization, is it moral to step back and just observe, so that the 1,000 survivors on a remote island are not spiritually corrupted by another civilization?

It is possible that there are aliens out there, somewhere. It is also possible that there are alien observers on Earth. Not likely, IMO, but possible. However it is highly unlikely that those observers would be blowing their cover to simply express their dislike of some harmless local customs, like lipstick. Besides, if they dislike lipstick then they, by induction, must dislike pretty much everything else about humans, and what kind of an impartial observer does it make? Ridiculous. If there are observers on Earth, they are here to observe and report - nothing else. One would have to assume an incredible level of stupidity of those aliens if they permit observers to initiate the contact. And stupid beings do not patiently observe planets for years - see Vogons as an example, or Fithp.

I guess these aren't the aliens to whom abductions with anal probing are commonly attributed. They must be from a different star.
