i have read a fair amount of simmons’ published work. Hyperion and Fall of Hyperion are just brilliant, imho. I did not care for the following 2 books (endymnion etc) nearly as much. I got bored of Ilium/etc.

The author shocks us into confronting the very real danger of Islam, but fails to factor the 90 million gun owners of America into his “historical” equation.

I believe that the American gun-owning public might just figure prominently in this story, somehow.

In the 90’s, I used to correspond with Ken Grimwood, who was a posting buddy from CompuServe. He sent me one of his books, I’m sure it was “Replay”, but I had no idea of what a great writer he was at the time. I went to look him up a while back to say “Hi”, and was very saddened to learn he had passed away. He was a really decent and funny man, and exceptionally talented.
