Bringing the level of seriousness down? Heck, I've been here since December of 1999 and, if anything, the level of seriousness on FreeRepublic has gone way UP over the years. There were dozens of threads each with responses that numbered in the hundreds dealing with nothing more serious than cheese, spam, and sister-biting Møøsës, spinning out with quotes, pictures, and nonsense from "History of the World, Part 1", "Men in Tights", any appropriate (or inapppropriate) Monty Python movies or skits from the shows, "Fawlty Towers", "Red Dwarf", and anything and everything under the sun.

Seriousness? There's plenty of that here ... what's missing is the spirit of fun and slapstick that used to pervade here.

A lot of these countries are very poor. I give these young ladies credit trying to raise money for their basketball team. It is called capitalism people and it is not porn.

Women offended? Many women love salacious crap like Desparate Housewives that enriches liberals who hate America and probably hate you if you are in middle America.

Stupid Americans are learning and will learn more what living in a poor country will be like thanks to Obama and their stupidity of voting for the Islamo-communist.

We may see poverty in America like the former Soviet Republics but as long as the Obama-loving and Rush-hating NFL has their stupid games on TV then life is good for the sheep.

Many women voted for him and idiots in America are becoming slaves by watching TV and paying a monthly cable TV or Sat TV bill. Your monthly cable bill keeps MSNBC and CNN alive people.

Great thread, but one minor quibble. No need to dis the American ladies. Give them a makeup staff and glamor photographer and they'd look just as good. About the only sport where ladies look sexy in their gear is beach volleyball. I suppose that's why it's become one of my fave Olympic sports.

So, why don't the American ladies do calendars like this? Money. Belarus is still a Stalinist dictatorship, never joining the Baltics or Poland in reforming and plugging into the world economy. I imagine the team needs the money in what is still a dismal and poor country.
