**THE 2009-10 BCS National Championship Game Live Thread**

Posted on 01/07/2010 12:10:45 PM PST by GOP_Raider

Well, here it is, the final game of the 2009 college football season. For much of the bowl season, I've had to work, get my car fixed, and Google search any insignificant question and computer problem my grandparents call me about. (You would think with their age and guile they'd have the answers to various things readily available. You would think). So needless to say, this has kept me from my assigned college football commenting duties. For that I apologize, but tonight I will get the festivities going. So without further ado...

The BCS National Championship Game: Alabama vs. Texas (8:00 pm) From the moment this matchup was set, I've been pondering what the key to this game should be and ultimately what it will be. Could it be the Longhorn offensive line having a chance to contain the legendary Mt. Cody? How about the Tide secondary and what they'll have to do to contain Jordan Shipley? And let us not forget the mystery of chessboxing that could occur between Nick Saban and Mack Brown. But I keep hearing that the Tide are going to make mince meat of the Horns, and that kind of ignores recent history. What did we learn from the last time we saw Texas in a title game? We should have learned not to count them out, right? So keep this in mind before we coronate a team in a game like this. In my usual neutral third party kind of observational style though, that doesn't necessarily mean that the Tide aren't every bit as good as advertised. I happen to think so, for whatever that's truly worth.

Watch him clap in this top video after having been hit, moving his right arm which was supposed to have been hurt by the injury.

Also in the bottom video watch him move the right arm at the elbow as he walks to the sideline.

http://www.huffingtonpost.com/2010/01/07/colt-mccoy-injury-video-i_n_415669.html

Was a prop bet on the over for McCoy completions that people were betting. Over 20 or 22 completions. Everyone was taking the over I believe. Good way for the under on the number of completions to come in is he gets hurt. Don’t see how McCoy’s number of completions goes under against Alabama unless that happens and the money had to be on the over. More money maybe on Alabama though so that doesn’t make real sense to me though. Maybe Texas money going through casinos and Bama money going elsewhere to bet this.

Rothlisberger played through an ugly arm hit this past Sunday for the Steelers.

This looked like a script stolen from Monday Night RAW, Will McCoy come back out of the locker room later tonight, and they show McCoy’s father going into the locker room, they show him from behind and don’t show his face. Professional photographer right, and they don’t get a face shot.

Also in the post game interview speech he is holding the left hand by the shirt as if the left shoulder was hurt. Maybe he forgot which shoulder was supposed to be hurt. He got hit in the right shoulder and he holds the left arm as if that is the one hurt. Can’t they do a better job on the filming direction here?

Although we (Austinites) need to feed him.... he’s about 50 lbs down.

Get that boy to Chuy's, Green Mesquite, Salt Lick, etc. LOL!

Except for that bone-head call at the end of the half.

IMO, the entire 1st half after Colt went out was not Mack's best effort. He was trying to play it safe with Gilbert. Bama knew the run was coming ... easy defending.

Texas couldn’t run the ball well even with McCoy in there, it was their Achilles Heel all season. If it wasn’t for Shipley, it would have been a rout. The Texas D did their part to keep them in the game, I just wish our defense could have come up with that kind of effort in Atlanta.

Exactly! And when they knew it was coming, it made it that much easier.

Shipley was definitely a key factor, just as he was all season. I hope UT has other targets for Gilbert next year.

I know I’m a day late...

ESPN commentators called the Boise St./TCU game a snoozer. They barely mentioned it on their Monday night Sportscenter, which was right after the game. The next day I had to wait a long time to see any highlights.

It was as if the game never even happened in their minds.

I wish it were a reference to the Boise/Alabama game that is secretly in the works for next weekend.

We should start the TARP Bowl next year. We can pick two teams that didn’t deserve to be in game, but give them recognition by putting them on TV. They both win of course; the viewers lose.

Chuy’s is good. Salt Lick...not so much. I always preferred Texas Land and Cattle in San Antonio.

The money....but he is not some poor ghetto kid who can pull his granny and aunts out of poverty forever with just the signing bonus.

But the money is so great...and he had already finished his degree.

Case took Graham to the State 3AAA Championship and lost to Carthage. I was hoping that Case would consider a SEC school like Tennessee.....

**CORRECTION**

Last night I said that this was Alabama’s 7th national title since 1936 when it was actually their 8th. This is actually their 7th AP national championship as they had one (I believe in 1978) where they won the UPI title but not the AP. But the 13th credited title overall is correct. My bad.

Comments:

Pete Carroll/Seahawks -- So he can be a three time failure as an NFL Coach? College is his game. I bet he stays.

Joe McKnight/NFL -- With those hands he may set a new record for most fumbles or with his history of minor injuries "most missed minutes'

Aaron Corp/transfers -- To Richmond (I think) Looks like we lose a solid back up QB. Let's ask Texas what that means, shall we?
