**THE 2009-10 BCS National Championship Game Live Thread**

Posted on 01/07/2010 12:10:45 PM PST by GOP_Raider

Well, here it is, the final game of the 2009 college football season. For much of the bowl season, I've had to work, get my car fixed, and Google search any insignificant question and computer problem my grandparents call me about. (You would think with their age and guile they'd have the answers to various things readily available. You would think). So needless to say, this has kept me from my assigned college football commenting duties. For that I apologize, but tonight I will get the festivities going. So without further ado...

The BCS National Championship Game: Alabama vs. Texas (8:00 pm) From the moment this matchup was set, I've been pondering what the key to this game should be and ultimately what it will be. Could it be the Longhorn offensive line having a chance to contain the legendary Mt. Cody? How about the Tide secondary and what they'll have to do to contain Jordan Shipley? And let us not forget the mystery of chessboxing that could occur between Nick Saban and Mack Brown. But I keep hearing that the Tide are going to make mince meat of the Horns, and that kind of ignores recent history. What did we learn from the last time we saw Texas in a title game? We should have learned not to count them out, right? So keep this in mind before we coronate a team in a game like this. In my usual neutral third party kind of observational style though, that doesn't necessarily mean that the Tide aren't every bit as good as advertised. I happen to think so, for whatever that's truly worth.

True, Mangini deserves another year, but if I had the chance to hire John Fox, I’m doing it yesterday!! And Fox is on the market, given permission by owner Jerry Richardson to seek a long-term deal elsewhere.

There are just some in this game that can breed success surrounded by failure...

My thoughts exactly! Wait until next year. Although this one was pretty exciting in it’s own way.

So what! I pull for all the other SEC teams. That is a good percentage.

Too bad Rush didn't do an environmental wacko pick.

Texas.
A team that has the greatest symbol of CO2 emitting flatulance as its mascot.

vs.

Alabama.
A team that has a polluted, low, global warmed, incoming reddish ocean movement as its mascot.

The point spreads could be sooooo much fun to give detailed descriptions to....................

There's only one SEC I won't root for, and that's the Hillbillies from Knoxville.

I LOVE the Tide and will not bash them tonight, but I will be rooting for Texas all the way.

Hehe, the crimson tide would take out a swimming cow with long horns. The tide; no question!

ROLL TIDE!

Maybe I’m out of touch with the new reality, but did I just NOT hear the National Anthem? I was expecting to end on the exhilirating high note of “land of the free and home of the brave” and instead got “from sea to shining sea” (America the Beautiful is a lovely song, don’t get me wrong, but it is NOT our National Anthem and does not at all evoke the same emotions).

That singer was wonderful proud beautiful strong african american woman! Why were all the crowd shots a bunch of whiteys? Racists!!!

On a side note, I thought the Rose Bowl was Big 10/Pac 10. How long have I been passed out?

Rose Bowl was last week, Ohio State vs. Oregon. Ohio State won. This game is in the Rose Bowl, but is not the Rose Bowl.

I take back my earlier comment—didn’t know they were going to sing both songs. Hearing the National Anthem now. Wish the woman who sang America the Beatiful was singing this one too.

Yeah, I was hoping they were just waiting until the teams were on the field for the National Anthem.

Josh Groban was good (though I didn’t care for the arrangement), but I think the America the Beautiful lady would have been a thousand times better than he was. She was super!

Was hoping for the burnt orange jerseys. Love the burnt orange, but thin Bama will win.
