A New York City junior high student has been arrested for doodling on her desk with a marker.

Twelve-year-old Alexa Gonzalez scribbled "Lex was here 2/1/10" on her desk Monday at Junior High School 190 in Queens. She also wrote "I love my friends Abby and Faith." The girl says the doodles could have been erased.

Moraima Camacho says her daughter was released several hours after she was taken in handcuffs to a police station.

.
Those got carved into.

The more modern ones would get covered by pencil doodles by the end of class — but were easily erased.

I wonder if she was actually arrested for writing on the desk, or more-so for abusing the teacher, disturbing the peace, resisting an officer, interfering with an officer in the execution of their duties, 2nd degree assault, public obscenity, etc.

Or was this truly just a bored little angel with an errant marker?

Good to see that crime in NYC is so lo that the police can concentrate on important stuff like this.

That little on-girl crime wave has been stopped. Society can breathe again.

How much are they paying those who made this absurd decision? They owe the taxpayers, big-time.

When did schoolsl decide to stop disciplining their students and have them arrested?

What a waste of community assets. Principal, call the parents in, make them pay for the destruction, put the kid in the risk room until they earn their way back to the classroom.

2nd degree assault, public obscenity, etc.

I misread that as public obesity...

Any of those ostensible "charges" would have been adequate to deny a child and an American citizen her constitutional liberties, pending "due process" or what passes for it.

She lucky she didn't get tazed.

I'm sure the heroin dealers were yukking it up in the halls.

In an article about JFKerry taking over Dead Ted's desk in the senate:

"Following Senate tradition since about 1900, all senators inscribe their name on their desk's drawer."

So, it's OK for senators to do this, but schoolkids are dragged out in handcuffs.

By THIS pic one could surmise some ‘tude is within her.

Dunno. Gotta wait for facts. But it’s fun to speculate. ;-)

It's a freaking mugshot, bozo. I wonder how happy you'd look if Big Brother came down on your day.

onzalez has been assigned eight hours of community service, a book report and an essay on what she's learned from the experience.

If they don't like what she writes in her essay after her indoctrination, she will be off to a commie re-education gulag.

oops ... “FAIL!” on YOUR part. ;-)

That’s a press photo. Click on it and it opens up to a larger photo with her posing as if ready to be cuffed. (using Google Chrome as a browser)

So, thanks for the “bozo” insult.

Back to you.

Gee whiz...if they got me for this in grade school back in the ‘50s, I’d just be getting out on parole now.

I don’t know how tall she is, but some modeling agency might be interested in her. Beats going back to a crappy NYC public school.
