Word For The Day, Monday, 2/8/10
In order that we might all raise the level of discourse and expand our language abilities, here is the daily post of "Word for the Day".
iterative
1. repeating; making repetition; repetitious. 2. Grammar. frequentative.
Etymology: 148090; < LL iterātīvus. See iterate, -ive
Rules: Everyone must leave a post using the Word for the Day in a sentence.
The sentence must, in some way, relate to the news of the day.
The Review threads are linked for your edification. ;-)
Practice makes perfect.....post on....
Here is my example with WFTD.
Snowstorms in DC are iterative. Another iteration is expected tomorrow:
ABC 7 First Alert Forecast
A WINTER STORM WATCH goes into effect tomorrow afternoon and runs until Wednesday afternoon. The watch include Shenandoah, VA to Anne Arundel, MD and points north, including the city. Snow will develop tomorrow afternoon and continue into Wednesday. By definition a Watch means 5 or more inches of snow. South of town, lesser amounts of snow are anticipated for Central Virginia with a mix with rain possible in southern Maryland keeping accumulations down. Two approaching systems are expected to phase together, creating our snow maker, but much remains to be determined. So check back frequently as we fine tune the forecast. Whether the forecast totals need to be adjusted or not, totals will pale in comparison to the weekend storm.

No pushing at the door please!
got nowhere to be, nothing to do, because we are still covered with SNOW. DC is closed today.
Zero, an iteration of Jimmah Cartah with crack and steroids thrown in.
Good morning.
I’m not going to complain about how cold it was this morning in S. Florida, since we don’t have snow! ;) Stay warm!
"Go back to Kenya"
President Obama’s iterative media appearances have become counterproductive.
I’m iterative in my reveling in the Saints victory, right here in the middle of Colts country.
4 of the sweetest words in the English language.
Simon Says....Go Snow!
What are the chances that we could get D.C. to close 363 days a year?
And no one has ever found a dead girl in her office, either.
3 degrees here this morning. You don’t know “cold.”
A+++ perfect! he is ALL of that!
estimating sqrt(x) by
10 sqrtx=x
15 x2=1
20 x2=(x/sqrtx + x2)/2
30 if sqrtx-x2 < x/10000000 then return
40 sqrtx=x2
50 goto 20
is an iterative process
Amen. Now we can dispense with the iterative anointing of the annoying Peyton Manning....
Didn’t take him too long to throw his teammates under the bus for failing to recover the onside kick.
how were your festivities this past weekend, truthy? and do you have pix for us : )
It's God's way of saying "Hang in there."

Warm up
Snow

...
- it’s an iterative process.
In Barack Obama’s fake narrative
He is heaped with encomium, iterative
But after he’s praised
When vital questions are raised
The record’s completely obliterative
