DALLAS - If you want a pillow and blanket in coach on American Airlines, it's going to cost you.

The airline will charge $8 for a pillow and blanket in coach class for domestic trips and some international flights longer than two hours, beginning May 1. The international flights are to and from Canada, Mexico, Hawaii, the Caribbean and Central America.

Spokeswoman Andrea Huguely said Monday it was an economic decision.

just like having to pay exorbitant prices for soda, water, etc in the airport...because you can't bring it...however, the loop hole is....bring an empty bottle and fill it at a water fountain......

I dislike air travel anyway..this is just one more reason....

CNN reporting: American Airlines just announced, as a safety measure, passengers will no longer be able to bring their own blankets or pillows on board.

And they can’t figure out why JetBlue, Southwest, and Airtran keep gaining market share?

Nice service ay? You think with all the stress of flying these days the airlines would go out of their way to make sure passengers are as comfortable as possible. Checked bags now a $25.oo extortion fee. Man I hate flying and has nothing to do with fear but the hassle of it all is a drag. Screw airports and airlines—less Southwest Air.

This is riduculous. They should just raise the price of the seat by a dollar, or whatever it averages out over on the flight. I’m glad I wasn’t in the boardroom when they came up with this piece of stupidity. I would have thrown things.

Doesn’t seem very fair when the airline is determining the freezing temperature on the plane

The heat for the aircraft comes from the bleed air from the compressor section of the turbines. The use of bleed air for heat to the passenger cabin costs the airlines bucks in a greater fuel burn for the trip.

One pilot on the trip said the plane we were on was having temperature control problems in the cabin. However, the biggie that went international was just plain cold.

Watch out. The next move might be making you check your jacket at the door.

next thing? will they charge us to breathe the air in the plane?

Yes. Lets pay a premium for recirculated air.

Not a problem....

Wadda retired flight attendants do? Do they fly around? Stay in hotels?

In fact, when I think I’m going to fly coach, I bring my own blankee...

I always take a blankee while driving on the Interstate.
