Zoey the Chihuahua is definitely not a lap dog.
This five-pound dog has the courage of a lion. When Zoey saw a rattlesnake lunge at her owners one-year-old grandson, the bulldog came out of her.
The child was in the backyard when a snake slithered up to the toddler and struck. Zoey jumped in between the child and the snake and took all of the bites instead.
She was treated for her bites and is doing well now. Zoeys owner says that These little bitty dogs, they just dont really get credit.
Zoey, you definitely deserve a gold star and a rub on the belly for your brave heroism.
I’m sure goldens were put on there by people who hate dog hair!
Chihuahuas???? Why??? I must have been somewhere on the back 40...I did not know this.
We have a new Cavalier puppy who is 12 weeks old. He is fearless, but we think it is mostly because he is just so happy go lucky nothing bothers him. He gets in our 11 year old cocker spaniel’s face and she growls at him. He rolls over, then bounces away to the next thing that catches his attention. lol If he is doing something we don’t want him to do a NO-NO from us gets a brief cock of the head and quizzical look before he bounces off to something else. Yes he bounces!
Happy go lucky and merry are the words I would use to describe him.LOL Oh and CUTE, too cute for words!
They are cute, I haven’t been around many, but the temperament seems a lot like a cocker (back in the day when cockers were like that—unfortunately I’ve seen a lot of nasty cockers over the years).
>>Chihuahuas???? Why??? I must have been somewhere on the back 40...I did not know this.<<
It is a pit bull joke.
>>Yeah, but when Chihuahuas go bad...watch your ankles!<<
To tell the truth, the only dog that ever bit me in my entire life was a yorkie about 6 inches tall. Little SOB bit me in the calf.
:-) Thanks....whew....that threw me ...:-)
In all the time I worked for a vet only one dog almost bit me, a cocker/chow mix. She missed but only because I was paying attention and was fast. I was bitten twice (but not at work), once by my brother’s lhasa and once breaking up a dogfight (golden retriever). But, I’ve had MANY small dogs threaten!
Well there you go. No wonder the chihuahua survived. She got bit where there was nothign there to damage.
I know that *I* live in constant terror of being torn apart by a pack of feral Pugs.
[good grief!]
How many people even know what an Akbash or Boerbul *is*, let alone have one?
Piffle. Chihuahuas cannot hold a candle to the terror of....
OK - I’ll admit - I don’t think I’ve ever seen a “chwienie”, but I’ve seen several “cockhuahuas” and “poohuahuas” and a few others and yuck.
I hope it is very cute! :-)
But good job by this chihuahua pup.
Chihuahua ping
I hope it turns out to be a nice dog. I’m a purebred fancier myself because you have a better idea of what you’re getting. However, there are many nice mixed breeds out there. This one is not a puppy, so there should be no big surprises.
Thanks. I was one of them. My daughter had one for 20 LONG years..dumbest dog I ever saw. I got one last year, rescued from the pound. He is the best dog I've ever lived with and yes, he has the heart of a lion and the disposition of a gentleman.
My Wilson & Regis (who is half Chihuahua).
Those mixes certainly sound pretty unattractive.
Thanks for posting that— I was going to ping you to the thread, but you beat me here...
;-)
My brother has one of the fattest, ill-tempered crotchety Chihuahuas I've ever seen. Many times I've walked past it and it come up behind me and tries to bite my ankles. Respect and love for my brother is the only thing that keeps me from punting that little pigdog across the front yard.
