Hatch: Tea Party movement threatening to tear GOP apart
The Salt Lake Tribune ^ | 2/18/2010 | Donald W.Meyers

American Fork » Sen. Orrin Hatch has a message for the Tea Party movement: Work with the GOP or see conservatives lose more ground. "If we fractionalize the Republican Party, we are going to see more liberals elected," Hatch warned a crowd of 300 at a town meeting at American Fork Junior High School on Wednesday night, amid jeers from Tea Party supporters. Hatch blamed extreme conservatives for the 2008 defeat of Sen. Gordon Smith, a politically moderate but fiscally conservative Republican from Oregon. Hatch said if the Tea Party had not backed a constitutionalist candidate in that race, Smith wouldn't have lost to Democrat Jeff Merkley, whom Hatch described as "the most Photo Gallery Sen. Orrin Hatch town hall meeting liberal senator," by 45,000 votes. But Hatch's critics said he was not interested in listening to them. "I think you guys are as out of touch as you can get," said Sarah Beeson, of American Fork. Hatch, she said, appeared more interested in raising money for candidates than listening to what the people had to say.

“Hatch blamed extreme conservatives for the 2008 defeat of Sen. Gordon Smith, “

BS. Oregonians finally got tired of Smith being a LIBERAL and got rid of him. It’s past time for Arizona to do the same with McCain and Utah could get rid of Hatch and be better for it.

What he is worried about is real conservatives getting elected especially in the Senate. Why do conservatives allow themselves to be marginalized? I don’t necessarily believe we should be absolute purists but those who we support should be at least on the same team. We should not be supporting individuals who never support the second ammendment for example or disregard the constitution. Call that a litmus if you want. I call it a requirement. We shouldn’t support people who get 100% ratings from NARAL either. I don’t expect someone to be radically pro-life but a 100% rating from NARAL means that one isn’t a very good person at all. Its just a matter of decency in that case.

We have a big opportunity in this next election and Hatch knows this. We have an opportunity to elect real mainstream government cutting conservatives like Jim DeMint to the Senate and House. Hatch who is generally conservative would rather have a Charlie Crist than a Marco Rubio. We will never cut back the size or scope of government electing lukewarm conservatives or big government types who praise Jesus and say pass the tax offerring plate.

Hatch said Smith wouldn't have lost to Democrat Jeff Merkley, whom Hatch described as "the most Photo Gallery Sen. Orrin Hatch town hall meeting liberal senator,"

By God, I actually agree with Hatch on this statement.

He really is the most Photo Gallery Sen. Orrin Hatch Town Hall Meeting Liberal Senator.

Note to Hatch: Repent of your RINO ways, convert to the conservative principles of the Tea Party or be steamrolled with the rest of the spineless Demmie wanna-be’s into political oblivion. The choice is yours.

Actually, Orin, the TEA party may be the only thing which saves the GOP from going the way of the Whigs.

I remember when you were first elected. Do you remember how Ronald Reagan helped you? You were a firebrand on par with Jesse Helms. I remember when you even button-holded wavering Democrats like Fritz Hollings of South Carolina and James Exon of Nebraska to maintain a filibuster on a key piece of union legislation which would have made the Carter economy even worse. I liked that Orin Hatch a lot. What happened to him?

If the grassroots are threatening to tear the party apart, it is clear that the leadership isn’t leading in the right direction.

“”Work with the GOP or see conservatives lose more ground.””

What a duh mass.

“Abandon your principles or you will lose more ground.”

Gee Orrin, give me a moment to figure that one out.

Get on board or get the hell out of the way. Not only will conservatives gain ground, but liberals who recognize the greatness of America will join with us.

In other words Orrin- the whole point of the movement is to tell nuetered pawns like yourself who facilitate the disintegration of our Constitution that you are no longer in charge.

You do not tell the people how to act. The people tell you. Get it or get gone.

As I just said on another post:

This is why a third party is desperately needed. The Conservatives will form their own party. The liberal Republicans will then move to the Democrat party, where they belong. The Republican party will then be defunct. We will then be back to a two-party system. Only this time it will be the Liberals (Democrats) and the Conservatives.

Hey Orin, it is you old farts that need to go. You and your ilk have compromised the USA into the hands of Marxist destroyers. WE blame YOU and YOUR type for this nightmare.
Any man who would champion a POS like Ted Kennedy as his friend is no friend of ours.

Time to go old fool. Retire now.
