Neal McDonough is a marvelous actor who elevates every role he plays, whether it's in Band of Brothers or Desperate Housewives.
So when he was suddenly replaced with David James Elliott 3 days into the filming on ABC's new series Scoundrels earlier this week, there had to be a story behind the story. The move was officially explained as a casting change. But, in fact, McDonough was sacked because of his refusal to do some heated love scenes with babelicious star (and Botox pitchwoman) Virginia Madsen.
The reason? He's a family man and a Catholic, and he's always made it clear that he won't do sex scenes. And ABC knew that. Because he also didn't get into action with Nicolette Sheridan on the network's Desperate Housewives when he played her psycho husband during Season 5. And he also didn't do love scenes with his on-air girlfriend in his previous series, NBC's Boomtown, or that network's Medical Investigation.
"It has cost him jobs, but the man is sticking to his principles," a source explained to me.

I think we found your doppelgänger.
Problem is the make-up. Although she be fair-skinned, NOBODY is that white!
“Obviously, this is an opportunity for a stunt double. I offer my services - - which will require NO acting talent. ;^)”
I beg to differ. In your own mind you might not need acting talent but for the rest of us to watch I would wager you would need much direction to make it look.....appealing.
Just kidding!
He is wearing a Tiger Woods hat. LOL!!!!!The irony.
Good for him. Integrity is a rare trait in Hollywood ... or in any public life, really (Tiger Woods, John Edwards).
Haven’t seen this guy in much — I think he was in a Star Trek movie several years back, and Minority Report. Haven’t watched Band of Brothers yet.

;^) It IS AFD!
MY EYES!!!! MY EYES!!!!
“Bailing on the producers on such short notice for such a cause will do him real harm. Hollywood might respect his principles but certainly not his professionalism.”
None of us knows the whole story...but usually actors only get the script a few days before shooting the TV show. So when he read the script...he said no can do. It would be the same as your boss asking you to do something criminal/immoral...does that require professionalism?
And in the long run, producers now know what he will and won’t do.

Amen to that!!!! Densel Washington also does the same thing.
I didn’t know that! Good for him.
Wow..they lost a great actor. He plays a really creepy bad guy. The show would be better WITH him, than with a “hot” sex scene. Sex scenes are stupid anyway. No one watches a show for them. If they want to watch sex, they fire up the computer and watch the real thing. People like stories.
The highest selling movies had NO sex in them at all.
When money is involved, there are few of us stick to our principles...sad commentary on our society.
We are all too worried about possibly losing our jobs, or getting fined. So, we cave in. We compromise. We don’t protest. We don’t speak up...we do not participate in civil disobedience. We don’t write a letter to the editor.
Perhaps they changed the role on him? I understand it happens a lot. From what I understand, he is upfront about his standards.
I remember years ago, Pat Boone refused to KISS a woman in a movie. It was a big deal at the time. He had told the producers his values, yet they thought they could talk him into doing it. ....he didn’t.
But, seems to me, he lowered his standards some years later.
You are absolutely correct and those traits are what the forces of evil, 0bamao and his minions play upon to seize and increase power.
I commend him for his principles, even if it meant his job, but I don’t understand why he would want to be a part of those shows in the first place.
I believe that actors, by their nature, want to play many roles, even the “heavy” who is the bad guy, because they KNOW it is not REAL violence that is going on. Now when it comes to playing because they are “playing” somebody else. When it comes to physically touching, feeling, stroking and even simulated sex, it is just a step too far for him to personally take.

What the heck, here's another article about the Actor with Values. He can be an example to everyone who's asked or ordered or told to do something they know to be immoral or going against their principals.
