A Croatian girl baffled doctors when she woke up from a coma speaking fluent German, which she didn't previously know, and is now unable to talk in her native tongue.
Two weeks ago, the 13-year-old girl lost consciousness for 24 hours.
She had been studying German at school and watching German TV shows, but her parents insist she was previously unable to communicate properly in that language.
"You never know when recovering from such a trauma how the brain will react," hospital director Dujomir Marasovic told the U.K.'s Telegraph.
Various experts have examined the teenager, who is from the southern Croatian town of Knin, but all have failed to make a diagnosis.

I was knocked unconscious in a motorcycle crash in 1969 and for three years afterward could only speak Stooge. (Razzbanyah Yatch E Benfucchi? Yaski Taski! Mah Hah? Ah Hah!)

I dropped Mr. Legs’ motorcycle last week; didn’t learn any languages, but I did hear a few interesting new words...
I don’t know why that doesn’t surprise me.
Recently my 7 month old grandson who speaks fluent “baby” was around several children that were just beginning to speak “child”. We had them interact verbally to try to get the older ones to translate the baby gibberish but they failed miserably. Didn’t seem to understand a single word.
We rewarded them by buying ice cream cones and then throwing them all away. Bet they try harder next time.
That was very wily of you.

When my daughter began to speak, she spoke Russian.
“Want milk?”
“Da!”
“Up?”
“Da!”
“Here’s your babo!”
“Da!”
Pretty good for six months.
An Irish born priest whom I know was severely beaten and nearly killed by a homeless schizophrenic who came to the church asking for help. Miraculously, the priest survived, recovered, and returned to his duties. The good father though spoke without his Irish brogue for about a year.
That's not much of an explanation. Reactions are one thing. Doing something you never had the ability to do is quite another thing.
Proof positive that the Irish have been faking it all along.
Done what? Woke up speaking Kraut? Or failed to make a diagnosis?
This has the makings of an ethnic joke:
What do you call a Croatian with brain damage? A German.
What happens if she suffers more brain damage? She becomes a liberal.
Took the top of of me Jeep for the first time last week.
That was exhilarating and my long lost days of riding was replaced with the Topless Jeep run.
