Researchers Say Dead Gray Whale Filled With Garbage
KIRO TV ^ | April 19, 2010

Posted on 04/20/2010 2:39:07 PM PDT by nickcarraway

Researchers said a dead gray whale discovered on West Seattle’s Arroyo Beach last Wednesday was filled with a variety of debris, reported KIRO 7 Eyewitness News.

Cascadia Research Collective, which has performed hundreds of whale necropsies, said it has never seen so much debris in the stomach of a gray whale.

Researchers said items found inside the gray whale included small towels, sweatpants, plastic bags, surgical gloves, a golf ball and small bits of plastic.

Though the volume of junk was unusual, scientists said the debris was probably not what killed the whale. The cause of the whale's death is still being investigated.

Mandated depopulation of islands and coastal areas? Are you from the UN and you’re here to help us?

As a kid i remember seeing huge barges loaded with trash to dump out there in the oecean.
This was not my idea.
I believe it was our all knowing governments idea to dump thousands of tons of trash in the ocean, not mine.

It’s the drainage from Victoria BC that is dumping the sewage. It flows directly from the pipes to the Strait.

I’m calling BS on this one. It’s just too perfect a fit for the worldview of the Goreons.

No, it’s about the size of North America. It’s truly a disaster.

Google ‘Great Pacific Garbage Patch.’ The amount of trash is about the size of N. America, and marine animals are ingesting it. It's the cause of considerable death to whole populations of animals whose stomachs fill with indigestible plastic and starve to death. This one has real and readily discernible cause and effect.

No! I am not from the UN or the us government (same thing). My comments are actually tongue in cheek :).

The interior of WA, Oregon, and Idaho are dependent on dams for irrigation and therefore the economy. I am just sick and tired of these coastal liberal lefties always talking about removing the dams to save salmon, and other bull sh*t.

So I am starting a new concept about killing their precious whales that is due their own pollution. I have as much scientific facts regarding the death of whales as they do regarding the salmon population. Kind of turn abouts fair play.

So I keep saying whenever a story appears about a dead whale that it is due to the waste material from the coastal and island population that is the cause.

They want our dams want the islands and coastal homes evacuated. (it's actually a lot of fun)

I was hoping you were being sarcastic but wasn’t sure. Accusing someone on FR of belonging to the UN could be a real insult:) I have some very conservative friends living amongs the liberal heathens on those islands in the sound:)

For years I have done volunteer beach cleanup on the Oregon coast. They (SOLV) have the wrong timimg on their cleanups because the debris is usually sanded over. Right now the beaches are full of debris which has been exposed by the spring storms. I expect Washington beaches to be in the same condition. Maybe that is what the whale swallowed.

Sometimes my sarcasm gets carried away.

I did a whale watching tour (very boring after the first 20 minutes) where the guide began talking about the many the whales, orcas, etc being in the sound was due to the abundance of salmon in the Sound. After the chorus of complaints and contradictions that salmon were an endangered specie and we needed to remove the dams on the Columbia to save them, the guide changed his comments that the salmon that he was talking about were not the kind that migrated up the Columbia or other Puget Sound rivers?????

I still cannot find out what kind of salmon those might be. Anyway, I figured it was time to fight back with the same kind of BS that the left is putting out.
