Researchers Say Dead Gray Whale Filled With Garbage
KIRO TV ^ | April 19, 2010

Posted on 04/20/2010 2:39:07 PM PDT by nickcarraway

Researchers said a dead gray whale discovered on West Seattle’s Arroyo Beach last Wednesday was filled with a variety of debris, reported KIRO 7 Eyewitness News.

Cascadia Research Collective, which has performed hundreds of whale necropsies, said it has never seen so much debris in the stomach of a gray whale.

Researchers said items found inside the gray whale included small towels, sweatpants, plastic bags, surgical gloves, a golf ball and small bits of plastic.

Though the volume of junk was unusual, scientists said the debris was probably not what killed the whale. The cause of the whale's death is still being investigated.

I wouldn’t think a baleen whale would get all that crap in it.

This woman had the same problem as the whale. She swallowed 78 forks and spoons, which lodged in her stomach, for no apparent reason beyond that she felt like it.

It’s easy to explain the junk inside the whale. The whale ate a jogger, a doctor, a golfer and a homelss person.

I’m sure it’ll be proven false down the road. Think about all the junk and how a whale would ever ingest it. The golfball is the best BS story.

My guess is this is another save the whales waco made up story.

Isn’t there a plastic floating island the size of Texas out in the Pacific?

Sounds like that whale would have been a good candidate to appear on A&E’s Hoarders.

What everyone is missing in this story is not the junk that the whale ate (obviously from an east coast source), but what killed it off the coast of Seattle. I KNOW WHAT KILLED IT. It is a story that has been around for awhile but nobody will listen.

all of these island in Juan de Fuca’s are seeping out all of the human waste deposited there. This high level of fecal material is killed off whales and has for a long time, at an alarming rate.

This poor whale ate all kind of nan decomposable material but it still was left to the sludge of the island residents to actually it. These are people that profess to be animal and wildlife lovers but their actions in beyond belief. :)

It should be mandated that all of the US islands in the Juan De Fucas and the Puget Sound, including coastal resident of the mainland, be vacated immediately and permanently.

Seattle has the highest death rate among large whale populations of any coastal region. An enviromental tradegy is taking place and nobody wants to do anything about.

Consequence of a wild yachting weekend by Tiger Woods?

BTW, congratulations to Phil Mickelson for winning the Masters, 17 under, only been bettered three times in Masters' history.

My thoughts exactly.
The whale was practicing green living by recycling.
