It was just a prank !

It was just a prank!

On Thursday, April 1, 2010 ( April Fool’s day) me and my class of fellow students decided to pull a small prank that would not hurt or disrupt anything during class: At 3 p.m., the entire class (or half of the class, as it ended up to be) fell out of their seats at the same time and laid in the floor for a few seconds and then got back in their chairs again.

After we had returned back into our chairs we began reading again. By the time we had all returned to our chairs, our teacher had left the classroom and, what we later found out, had called an administrator. We were all taken down to the ISS (in-school suspension) room where we were then given two days of in-school suspension. When we pulled our prank, it was at the end of the day and the last day before spring break; we were also reading and it was not during a lecture or a test. It was a simple prank where nothing was broken or hurt.

The reason I’m writing this is because I don’t believe that we should be serving two days of ISS for something so small and harmless. We even got back up and continued reading after she walked out of the room. And, yes, we said “April Fools!”

So, do you think we were in the wrong for doing such a simple, harmless prank? Do we deserve the two days of ISS? Maybe 50-to-life would have been more appropriate for rolling on the floor?

I think not. Some people need to lighten up, have a laugh and enjoy life.

Harmless prank leads to two days in-school suspension.
Does the punishment fit the crime?

zero tolerance = zero wisdom needed when doling out punishments...

I hope it wasn't English class. Maybe instead of two days of in-school-suspension, they should serve two days of remedial grammar lessons.

They’re in a government school. You’ll do as your master says and be happy.

A “practical joker” deserves applause for his wit according
to its quality.
Bastinado is about right.
For exceptional wit one might grant keelhauling.
But staking him out on an anthill should be reserved for
the very wittiest.

Yep, harmless prank and overreaction. But don’t do the prank if you’re not willing to walk the plank.

You were wrong for pulling such a lame action. It doesnt even qualify as a prank. Shame on you. Take your punishment like a man and next time put more thought into it.

Teachers and school administrators have become sadistic nazis with zero accountability.

The mistake of the students was not understanding that these people are actually looking for reasons to harm them.

They should study Zimbardo’s Stanford Prison Experiment to understand what such a complete license to abuse without any repercussions has done to their school environment.

Look PUNK, Your parents do not send you too and the Overtaxed Taxpayers do NOT pay for the schools so you can pull “pranks”. They should have thrown you out of school.

My class “pranked” a nun who wouldn’t let us take our uniform skirts off to exercise in the shorts we all wore underneath everyday. We simply unbuttoned the skirts and when she walked in for religion class and we stood up for the “Good afternoon, sister”. Our skirts fell to the floor... Her face got all red and she walked out. We were allowed to wear only our shorts for PE class after that. NOBODY got in trouble - we just got lectured about our method.

When a sense of humor is not appreciated, laughter will not be tolerated.

You’re furtunate to have learned so early and so inexpensively just how up-tight teachers and administrators are now. They have all the humor and tolerance of the TSA airport guys. Maybe a little grimmer and more paranoid, if that’s even possible.

Engage these humorless twits only when absolutely necessary, and be prepared for senseless narrow-mindedness at all times. Never leave anything up to their imagination, because they have very little, and what little they do have is twisted into dark ways.

There is an alternative to simply quitly suffering these idiots. And that’s to take ‘em on and tweak their noses at EVERY opportunity. This will lead you to a noisy, complicated, and eventful life, so be sure you’re up for the battle if you decide to go this way. They will resent being tweaked, and they will seek to get back at you — so be sure the battle is worth the blood. Some are: some aren’t. It all depends on your attitude and strength.

Geez, my mother’s class pulled this stunt about 70 years ago. It was no big deal.

Maybe they gave you 2 days ISS because the prank was lame. Come on...if you’re going to get ISS, you want to make sure your prank is legendary.

A really cool teacher would have fallen to the floor and laughed with you all - then maybe snuck in a quick prank of his/her own.

Things have changed a lot since I was in school. A class two years ahead of us took a car apart on the weekend and reassembled it in the school lobby. We came into school on Monday and there was a car in the lobby.

One class put a small car on top of the school smoke stack.

You should have blamed Bush or better yet Palin, being a government school you would have not only gotten off you would have more than likely been given an ‘A’ for the semester!
