Should the American Flag Be Banned -- in America?
http://www.foxnews.com/ ^

Posted on 05/07/2010 8:53:00 AM PDT by Lucky9teen

Should the display of an American flag be banned, even if a school administrator feels that display could lead to fights?

No. This is a lame decision. Teach the kids what the flag means, instead of banning it. 46% (147,117 votes)

Yes. The safety of students comes first. 53% (167,868 votes)

Not sure, but of all things to ban, the American flag would seem the least 'incendiary.' <1% (1,268 votes)

Other (post a comment) 1% (3,241 votes)

Total Votes: 319,494

PLEASE FREEP!!!

Voted & BTTT. WTF is wrong with some people?

Apparently ignorance of history is the norm in government run educational institutions.

It is obviously and “insult” to fly the American flag or wear garments with the American flag during Cinco de Mayo.

I - - Me; an individual; a committee of one.

Pledge - - Dedicate all of my worldly goods to give without self-pity.

Allegiance - - My love and my devotion.

To the Flag - - Our standard; Old Glory ; a symbol of Freedom; wherever she waves there is respect, because your loyalty has given her a dignity that shouts, Freedom is everybody's job.

United - - That means that we have all come together.

States - - Individual communities that have united into forty-eight great states. Forty-eight individual communities with pride and dignity and purpose. All divided with imaginary boundaries, yet united to a common purpose, and that is love for country.

And to the Republic - - Republic--a state in which sovereign power is invested in representatives chosen by the people to govern. And government is the people; and it's from the people to the leaders, not from the leaders to the people.

For which it stands One Nation - - One Nation--meaning, so blessed by God.

Indivisible - - Incapable of being divided.

With Liberty - - Which is Freedom; the right of power to live one's own life, without threats, fear, or some sort of retaliation.

And Justice - - The principle, or qualities, of dealing fairly with others.

For All - - For All--which means, boys and girls, it's as much your country as it is mine.

And now, boys and girls, let me hear you recite the Pledge of Allegiance:

I pledge allegiance to the Flag of the United States of America, and to the Republic, for which it stands; one nation under God, indivisible, with liberty and justice for all.

Since I was a small boy, two states have been added to our country,
and two words have been added to the Pledge of Allegiance: Under God.
Wouldn't it be a pity if someone said that is a prayer, and that would be eliminated from schools, too?

Which is MORE likely:

2. BHO will willingly release his birth certificate.

You Americans (not you FReepers in person, mind) amaze me more by the day! We just celebrated our Queen’s bday in Holland, flags and all. Although we are known worldwide as something of a liberal nation, with laws that perhaps would not really attract the average FReeper, there’s no doubt that our flag, and other national symbols, are here to stay. And we memorialized all victims of WW II the other week, with nationwide silence, flags at half-mast, and thanked our liberators (Americans, Canadians, Brits) from the bottom of our hearts.

Please call me naive. But what is troubling America so much, so intensely, that its most beloved symbols seem to be under attack?

IMO, the reason so many of our beloved symbols are under attack, is because America itself is under attack.

Our current administration is at full speed to tear down what America truly is - capitalism, liberty, freedom....GOD!

And these symbols which represent these things, are being attacked, because those that want the Socialist/Marxist Utopia (and don’t realize the HELL that is truly is) know that is one of the starting points to get at US.

It’s their way of also distracting us from the other damage they are doing, behind the scenes. IMO

Yes. The safety of students comes first. 53% (167,868 votes)

This is astounding to me. Because some racist, anti-American bigots, who are probably in the country illegally, might get violent, let's ban our flag for safety. Let the haters and bigots dictate to us when and where we can wear our flag. That's like giving in to two-year-olds who might throw a tantrum. How about teaching the haters and bigots that this is AMERICA, and if they don't like it, they can !@#$! leave?! I thought violence was against the rules. How about suspending or expelling the students who get violent over the flag?

This country has gone flipping insane.

Given the number of yes responses to that poll, America is fracked. I cannot believe there are that many people that absolutely have no respect for the Flag. I’m beyond offended to the point of disgust. These idiots that voted yes on that poll need a serious trip out behind the wood shed. I’m glad that my grandfather isn’t here to see the disrespect that these people have. Sad.
