130 lb Hooters Waitress Told To Lose Weight Or Lose Job!

DETROIT - Hooters had just given waitress Cassie Smith a glowing 2 year review.

But her bosses and two women on a conference call from the company's headquarters in Atlanta changed their tune when it came to her uniform evaluation

“They were like, your shorts and your shirt size could use some improvement,” said Smith.

Cassie, who is 5 feet 8 inches tall and weighs 132 pounds claims she sat there while she was told if she wanted to keep her job she needed to drop some weight.

“These women proceeded to tell me I had 30 days, they would give me a free gym membership, and if I didn't improve in 30 days I would be separated from the company,” Smith said.

“I was horrified, I was heartbroken, I was humiliated,” she continued.

Cassie clearly doesn't have a problem squeezing into her skimpy uniform, an extra small tank top and shorts.

In fact she says when she started this job 2 years ago she weighed about 10 pounds more than she does now.

Questions to the restaurant’s general manager Rob Rice were deferred to Hooters’ corporate offices.

For Cassie the damage has already been done.

The 20 year-old feels like she's a victim of weight discrimination by a corporation with unrealistic expectations.

“I don't want other girls to go through this. I don't want anyone to have to go through this.”

PLUMP!?!?!

You are unrealistic. 5’8” and 130 lbs is absolutely normal — ideal. The Hooter’s corporation is nuts. Plain nuts.

5’8 and 130 is NOT plump, not even close.

i bet their legal prerequisites are ironclad

Yeah, I'm sure Hooters has been down this road a few times before and know exactly what they're allowed to do.

On a related note, I also have a job that requires me to maintain my weight within standards and pass a fitness test twice a year, a test that requires me to run 1.5 miles within a certain time and do a certain amount of situps and pushups. And these days my Navy is cracking down on fitness failures, showing them the door.

Lady, you work for a company that makes money by indulging unrealistic expectations. Quit whining and do some sit ups.”

That is rather funny when you think about the company she works for, and the atmosphere they create in their business!

I am a 5’7 male, 32 yrs old, and I weigh considerably north of 200 lbs.

The “charts” say I should weigh around 140, but I’d look like an anorexic at that weight...I weighed 175 in college and looked pretty good IMHO.

Yes, I need to lose weight, but I don’t need to lose the ~100 pounds that the charts (and my Wii Fit) says I should.

Where did Weight Watchers get that chart?
Their minimum weight number for my height is my maximum before I start looking fat-ish...

As a visual illustration: This man, as depicted in this picture, has less than 5% bodyfat, which is unhealthily low. As depicted in this picture, this man has a BMI of over 40, and is considered morbidly obese.

She has a belly roll.

She needs to go to sprint intervals and do heavy squats to make her rear bigger, and get fake boobs.

She could then carry that fat..

(She IS a Hooters girl. There is a look.)

WiiFit did not involve chalk or iron, so it was not a good match for me.

I wear 33 pants, 50 jacket. If they get tight, I loose weight.

Being a Hooters girl, or anything similar is tough. You are paid to look good.

Mrs. TTR paid for school being a cheerleader for a professional team. They worked at like MAD, ate well, and still had to pull out the T3 (thyroid drug) and Albuterol (asthma medicine that is a Beta Antagonist and makes you selectively lose fat) to make body fat % required for public viewing.

I’M afraid she may loose some of her hooters if she listens to Hooters and loses weight. She should simply tone up a bit.
