This Salt Lake City pit bull is melting hearts, busting stereotypes, and proving that a disability doesn't have to slow you down.
Piggy, a pit-bull/boxer mix, can walk with only her front legs. Her hind legs were paralyzed three years ago in a hit-and-run car accident that shattered most of her spine.
Secured to a cart with wheels to help her get around, Piggy volunteers as a trained therapy dog at Shriners Hospitals for Children in Salt Lake City, which provides free surgeries to children with spinal cord injuries, orthopedic disorders and other similar conditions.
Piggy is amazingly gentle, Hollingsworth says. The dog can be relied on to nuzzle a baby's nose or calmly lick a treat out of a child's hand. Sometimes, children get so excited to see Piggy that they have to be reminded to stay in their beds. She is one of four dogs that volunteer at the hospital through Intermountain Therapy Animals, a nonprofit organization that tests and trains all of its therapy dogs to make sure they work well with children and hospital patients.

I just don’t see much pit bull. Boxer mix; assured.
A crippled pit bull is a docile pit bull.
Wifes a trauma Nurse and seen several toddlers without scalps.
Hispanics do love their pit bulls.
We have a pittie - he’s a big marshmallow too.
Sweet pup!
“I just dont see much pit bull. Boxer mix; assured.”
No brachycephalic skull, no long legs, no underbite, and no tuck-up after the ribs....all the signs of boxer heritage aren’t there. The only thing on that dog that could be boxer is the drop ears. Boxers are quite a bit larger (taller) than pit bulls. It could even have staffordshire bull terrier in it, as it is pretty stocky.

Wow, so many stereotypes in such a short time....Let me fix this for you:
A well-cared for pit bull is a docile pit bull.
Over 10 million people do love their pit bulls.
I have no doubt that your wife has seen some horrible things, but there’s a reason the experts don’t claim pit bulls are bad dogs, and that’s because in each situation involving a dog bite, there’s an irresponsible owner or parent or both that should have done something to prevent it.
Hehe...I was going to say something along the same lines...
I don’t see much boxer in her either
Is the sky a bright yellow/green in your world? (Looking through jaundiced eyes and all.)
Does anyone in your family work in a trauma center?
Which one?
My wife works at Desert Regional in PS.
You are talking , like an a hole, based on very limited info.
You’d better pray your are profiled and stereotyped when you have need of a trauma center.
I was married to an ER nurse for 13 years.
My son is a Paramedic/Firefighter and has also worked ER.
We have owned Terriers, Poodles, GSDs, Labs, a Great Dane, a Beagle mix and two Pit Bulls. Sorry to break your sterotype, but we are neither Black, “Hispanic”(sic), drug dealers, on welfare nor do we use our dogs for anything more than what God intended when He created them.
We live in a highly urban area, with a largely Black/Hispanic(sic) population.
People who generalize about a “race” or ethnic group in the manner you did in your first post have no room to call anyone an “a hole.”
Geeze, get a different picture. That one has been posted so many times its getting to be funny...Saw in on google even....I expect better from you.....;o)
That’s why you don’t let your dog drink adult beverages.
