College conference realignment isn't taking the weekend off.
Two media sources -- Jackson, Miss., television station WJTV and A&M blogger/radio host Billy Liucci -- report that Southeastern Conference commissioner Mike Slive is meeting with Texas A&M officials today in College Station, Texas.
Meanwhile, The Oklahoman newspaper reports Pac-10 commissioner Larry Scott met today with officials from Oklahoma and Oklahoma State in Oklahoma City, presumably to invite them to join his conference. Scott also plans to meet with Texas, Texas A&M and Texas Tech, according to the newspaper.
Sporting News' Matt Hayes reported Thursday that the SEC will likely only expand with Texas and Texas A&M.
OU is still deciding whether to stay in the Big 12, which officially lost Colorado to the Pac-10 and Nebraska to the Big Ten this week. The Oklahoman reports athletic directors from the remaining schools will meet Monday in a last-ditch effort to save the league.
Texas athletic director DeLoss Dodds said Saturday that his school

BTW, do you what you call an Aggie 10 years after graduation?...............Boss!
yeah...sure looks that way dont it? :)
I don’t think Texas wants to face Alabama, LSU, Ark....every year. They’d have a better shot in the PAC 10.
certainly opens the door for other teams to step up and take over as the top dog in the conf
A&M certainly would improve the quality of players that they get in Texas, by joining the SEC, it would be a huge selling point over Texas.
Aggies have fans all over the world. In a little town like College Station they’re sold out with a 1-9 record. And on Friday nights you can’t find a motel woom within 75 miles.
Texas is poison. They should just go independent. They have ruined every conference they have been in.
Would serve them right to go to the Pac 10 and put with bunch of fans who will get more entertainment protesting the “mistreatment” of Bevo than watching the game.
Word is that A&M is going to SEC.
Sure we do
They will be motivated now to upgrade their program. They have the money to pay $5m+ for a coach.
They have an endowment of $5B, 50k students and are ranked as the #22 public university in the country.
Tom is that you?
i totally agree. when the b12 conf started they wouldnt allow a strong conf office to be established. the rules they implemented are impossible to get changed and now they are potentially pulling the rug out from everybody else. if they could leave the b12 and the conf survived with maybe the addition of TCU or something, i’d be completely happy.
I’m suggesting deeper dislocations.
Nah, it will wind up in the Big Ten thousand.
LOL...no, im sure he’s partying it up as we speak
Sounds good to me.
Don’t know that this will make much difference.
Well will see.
it’s not just the money, there have been problems with the big 12 since it started!
The SEC should go after the ACC and merge with them. Then turn around and get A&M and Mizzu. That would solve so many problems in College football. It would also take us one step closer to a National Championship.
I wouldn’t expect anyone from Kansas to like Tom Osborne. Neither Kansas nor Kansas State ever beat a Nebraska team that Tom coached - 25 years w/o a Jayhawk or Wildcat victory over the Huskers. Oklahoma State never beat an Osborne coached Nebraska team either, btw.
No, I am not a Big Red fan, though I lived in Lincoln 12 years and was somewhat inundated with Husker hype. I am an Iowa State alum. I am a Big 8 fan, and liked it better when it was still the Big 8.
Kansas, Kansas State, Iowa State and maybe Oklahoma State will be left of the ‘Big 8’when it is all said and done. Missouri will likely go to the Big 10, though that is not a done deal yet.
It is too bad that the NCAA is all about money. And it is too bad that there is a BCS. That is no playoff and it reeks of politics. If there had been a good playoff system in place, this would likely not be happening now.
