ORLANDO, Fla. -- July 20 marks a historic day in space history.
Forty-one years ago, Apollo 11 landed on the moon.
On this day in 1969, Astronauts Neil Armstrong and Edwin Buzz Aldrin became the first men to walk on the moons surface after landing in a lunar module.
The landing signified a victory for the United States in the Cold War Space Race with the Soviet Union.
More than a billion people watched and listened on Earth as the events unfolded.

Problem is we stopped electing Americans for president after Reagan.

Problem is, the ruling class has decided that any public program (e.g., Apollo) that makes America appear to be the best in the world, at anything, must be stopped. The ruling class wants to preside over the decline of America. I read once that a Senator (Vanderbilt?) wanted even the molds for Apollo hardware destroyed, so we could never build a moon rocket again.

Congrats to the U.S.A. and NASA on this 40th anniversary of landing a man on the moon and returning him safely back to Earth. But of course MOST of the thanks should go to the Muslim world community for making it all possible. We couldn’t have done it without your peaceful religion.

Enjoy the celebration. The present occupant of the oval office has stopped space exploration because he hates anything that reminds him of the greatness that was once America.
To: Daffynition
On DU they are resurrecting the “moon landing was a fake done on movie set” fairy tales.

Thats because when it happened, he was a 7 year old indonesian schoolboy with a pet dungbeetle, and with no TV. He also doesn’t know Lucas McCain, never watched Sea Hunt, etc.
He’s a 3rd world urchin, communist, muslim sympathizer, who deeply hates America.

Thanks for posting this reminder.
I listened to the live broadcast from the Moon over Armed Forces Vietnam (AFVN) radio network. I was a radio operator with Lima Co., 3rd Bn, 26th Marines. At the time, the company was guarding the Namo Bridge on Highway 1 in DaNang.
41 years. Seems like the day before yesterday.

This government is no longer about expansion and breaking new frontiers, it is about control.
Distance makes control harder.
