What looks like a video that was filmed from an apartment, you will see a guy get his car stuck on something. In his attempt to get the car free it catches fire, but the guy keeps trying to free his car until he finally does. Then with his car engulfed in flames he actually tries to drive away in it.All I could think of when I watched this video was the movie "Planes Trains & Automobiles". Remember the segment where John Candy looses his cigar and starts the car on fire, but he is still driving down the Freeway while Steve Martin is sleeping in the shotgun seat.

I watched this and wondered why this drunk was so lucky, yet others who are not drunk are not. Sometimes understanding God's ways can be difficult.

He didn’t panic because he was relaxed about the whole situation.

Love how the monotone lib at the end goes “well, that’s one more SUV off the road” and this his wife/girlfriend goes “umm one more drunk off the road.”

The “one more SUV off the road” comment was kind of snarky by the cameraman. Wonder if they actually called 911 or just enjoyed the show?

Was the guy that pulled him away from the car a cop, or just a bystander? Either way, he saved that guy from some major burns.

I think it was either a cop or a paramedic.

After the SUV comment I was sure he was going to rant about the poison being spewed into the air by the burning vehicle.

I do think it was funny that his girl friend made the one last drunk on the road comment to his lame SUV comment though.

>>> with his car engulfed in flames he actually tries to drive away in it.

My puny bandwidth is committed so I am commenting blind, but has anyone considered the possibility he was trying to move his vehicle away from the apartments over concern of the damage it might do from either the fire spreading, or by explosion?

I recall something similar from the video by a reporter made of an ambush in Baghdad. An Army sgt under fire jumping into a burning ammunition truck and moving it away from his troops. To my mind a Medal of Honor moment, but his CO apparently didn’t see it that way.

The thoughts:
1. Just how hot was the cabin of the car?
2. Perseverance is a virtue only when combined with common sense.
3. As Bismarck said (or is often believed to have said),"God protects fools, drunks, and the United States of America”. As a drunk, foll and American, the driver survived what should have been a gruesome fate.

No, I think he was trying to “save” his car. At first when he was still trying to push it I thought HE might have caught on fire. But then he starts yelling and swearing in that typical drunken slurring. I thought “oh - he’s okay”.

Sort of like my buddy years ago who I thought had died in his own puke. But every time I would think about getting up from my own less-serious state and going to check on him after things got too quiet; he would turn his head and throw up some more. “Oh good - he’s okay.”

Probably it was a good thing that he’d finished his redeye, or his injuries could have been worse.

It didn’t look like he was trying to ‘drive’ it, he was pushing it away from whatever it was up against.
