Yorktown, a play set on the eve of the battle that ended the Revolutionary War, gets its world premiere at the June Havoc Theatre in Manhattan Aug. 6-28.
Written by Robert Manns, the play is directed by Eric C. Dente and features a cast including Andrew Kaempfer, Jenny Strassburg, James Knight, Gregory Jones and Chloe Rose, with Tom O'Neill, Robbie Baum, Tommy Nelms and Jason Gray.
Drama Garden produces the play. According to press notes, "In a field house overlooking the Colonial Army at the decisive battle of the American Revolution, two great generals and their wives devote themselves to the cause of liberty, avow their love for one another and marshal the constitution of purpose, to birth a fledgling nation."
Manns' other plays include Night of the Frogs, The Hedonists, The Lincoln Plays Parts I and II and The Rats.
The June Havoc Theatre is located in the Abingdon Theatre Complex at 312 W. 36th Street. For tickets, call (212) 501-4811 or visit dramagarden.com.
The RevWar/Colonial History/General Washington ping list
Interesting. I wonder if it will be as good as it sounds? Thanks for the info, Pharmboy.
PING to a few NYC-area FReepers...
Thanks Pharmboy!
I have to check it out>
Looks like Greene and Knox and their ladies are the main characters. Could be interesting . . . .
Indeed...esp. Kitty Greene!
Too bad it’s not running for several months...
I wouldn’t mind seeing it, but Aug. is not possible.
Yes indeed...she was an animated and flirtatious young woman at the time of the RevWar and...according to General Washington “helped with the soldier’s morale.” The General loved to dance with Kitty...
Thanks for posting, colorado tanker...
Thanks for the info. Will check it out.
You’re welcome. Even in that old black and white print she was a looker.
Interesting!
"Everything will change. Everything has changed."
And in a similar vein, when the surrender was presented at Saratoga, the Brit band played "The World Turned Upside Down."
