I’ve appreciated the responses on this thread from folks who resolved to do better. I have also appreciated the, I guess you would call it opposition.

Good post. We have become careless. We should shape up. Language in general has become too crude and crass. I didn’t appreciate Sarah Palin’s use of questionable language ... that was not what she was supposed to bring to Trump’s campaign.
I’m gonna watch myself in the future and maybe everyone will.
I love you, baby, but if I ever see that “Oh, Jeeze” picture again I may have to shoot myself.

This topic reminded me of something. I watched The Caine Mutiny the other night. Taped it off of Turner Classic Movies. It holds up extremely well.
Of course, it was first a great book by Herman Wouk. I will never forget the forward to his book.
He said (something like this) ..A lot of people may wonder why I don’t use any foul language in the book as it was well known to be prevalent in the Navy and other armed services.

Okay, I looked it up. This is not the only thing he ever said about it but it is one thing:
“Wouk said that not using profanity was “a problem I met on page one and faced up to. Sure there are a lot of four-letter words used in and out of the Navy. But I think you can report conversations realistically without going overboard on the obscenity. It’s just a matter of taste. Many writers, Twain, Conrad, even Hemingway, for example, have set down convincingly the dialogue of characters who you know must have used four-letter words constantly, but the words are not recorded. Their talk is real, though.”

That is good right there. I listen to a good deal of Old Time Radio. Perhaps it is out there, but, I have yet to encounter a “damn” or “hell”.
Step 1: Instead of a-- say buns, like "kiss my buns" or "you're a buns hole"
Step 2: Instead of s--- say poo, as in "bull poo", "poo head" and this "poo is cold"
Step 3: With b---- drop the t because bich is latin for generosity
Step 4: don't say ---- any more because --- is the worst word that you can say
So just use the word mmmkay!
I am SO getting me one!
A synonym for profanity is "disrespect".
