Sportsman's Guide has a sale on Wolf. .223 box of 20 $12.77. 50 rounds of 9 mm FMJ for $10.77. I know Wolf is not great but looking for extra as back up.

I know Ammo Man, Cheaper than Dirt. Any others?

Any suggestions?

Also any new rifles or pistols in .22 LR or mag worth looking at in case things fall apart. I know some new lower caliber, hi cap pistols and rifles are out. The ammo costs should be lower but these rounds still pretty lethal. Discuss. Thanks.

Sorry.

I used it all.

If cost is the supreme issue you gotta roll your own. There will be a significant cost of tooling up, but then...

I priced components for .223 recently and it came to “about” 23 cents per round... in batches of 2000. That’s about half price from the cheapest ammo available we could find. We reload everything but rimfire. I “think” I have my notes on the places I found the components....if you’re interested.

For SHTF on a budget, (which is me) I have 2 strategies; 1 is reloaders, dies, primers and powders and some good brass (one should never expect to recover much of what you use, though) and 2 is cheap, corrosive milsurp from overseas.

If I could do better than that I would, but ammo is just part of a comprehensive package....

1997-1999 were the best years for ammo. I lost it all in the boating accident. Along with the rest of my gear.

But I did love the days of 7.62x39 1440 round cases for $89US+shipping.

I don’t know if you can still get them, but I like sealed battle packs of military ammo. Back around the presidential primaries began, I bought up a thousand rounds of sealed military 223. It was real cheap stuff. Came from greece maybe?

22mag is a waste of time. it costs as much as 9mm so you might as well buy 9mm instead.

But if you have your heart set on 22mag, keltec makes a new semi auto pistol chambered in 22mag that comes standard with 30round clips.

For a 9mm gun I like the CALICO(pronounced kalEEEko, i believe). high cap spiral magazine that doubles as a buttstock iirc. I’ve been meaning to get one for years now. They also make a 22lr version.

for shotguns, I like the saiga 12. been meaning to get me one of those for years also.

If cost is the supreme issue you gotta roll your own.

Have to agree with adding if you don't reload, you can't buy due to scarcity of some calibers.

Less than $40 @ Cabelas. You'll need dies, scale, powder, primers and bullets.

As for new .22 rifles ...

My buddy picked up a new S&W M&P15-22.

Put a red-dot scope on there and its really a fun gun to shoot. We put around 500 rounds through it a couple of weekends ago with very little trouble. (Any problems were due to the cheap .22 rounds and not the rifle).

Not tryin’ to be a smart a$$ here , BUT , I “ ammo’d up “ when Clinton was elected POTUS . Ammo was really Dirt Cheap . Also picked me up a Dillon 550 . Life is goooooood !!
With that said , Wal-Mart has specials on .22LR . Also , it’s worth the drive to THE NEXT , nearest Gun Show in your area. Cash & carry if you know what I mean.
Good Luck and keep yer chin up - things will get better soon , however the EVIL will never relent. Be the Boy Scout...........

Ammo Depot. But if you have not been stocking up you are way behind the program. Not saying there is still a shortage like there was a year ago. But prices are still higher and ammo like .380 is short supply.
