By the way, there were a few ‘others’ sharp enough to understand what I was really getting at.

I’ve enjoyed watching, and I hate television.

I went to my DVR to take a look at the evening shows recorded from FOX and learned that those programs had been interrupted for the all night coverage of the rescue..I said a prayer for the miners and their families, turned off the TV and read my book. Our nation is facing collapse and the upcoming election is extremely important for the survival of all of us. A lot happens in a day and in my opinion, FOX could have covered the dramatic parts of the rescue without showing every move along the way. The coverage was way overdone, as these things usually are.

First, CNN and PMSNBC both covered the Chilean miner rescue all nite long, live. Fox only covered it live until midnite, and then kept repeating their earlier rescue stuff over and over for the rest of th nite/early morning hours, until 5 a.m when they went live again. Both CNN and PMSNBC were live with no repeats. I thought it bad form that Fox inflicted reruns of the rescue on their audience from midnite on. So I switched to the other two channels who were both doing a much better job of coverage. As to replacing politics, I know Freepers live and breathe it, but there is a big world out there of non-political types who are not junkies like we are. Actually, I am finding it to be a refreshing break from the constant (and repetitive) commentary on the races. One nite off from it doesn’t break my heart, and I love seeing the reactions of the miners as each is pulled up to see the light of day for the first time in a long time of living underground in a coal mine.

The difference with the Chilean president is his obvious sincerity.

I wish they would just shut up and cover all of it. I am enjoying watching the miners come out of that hole in the ground.

You might change your mind if you saw how happy they are to be alive and above ground. Watch their children crying when they see Dad alive and well after 69 days in a mine where they didn’t know if they would ever see him again.

lets see....rescued miners or obama’s dumb face....

I’ll take the miners. Actually, I kind of enjoyed seeing them rescued. In a world of bad news all day, I could (and so could most of us) use something positive to think on...

The problem is the accessories, docs talking about PTSD

Actually it's very appropriate as it puts to rest a lot of questions such as why they sent individuals down before they started extraction, why they were given oxygen masks, why they were put into compression suits, etc.......

It's apparent to me that this was an incredibly thought out rescue operation complete with the neat sunglasses..........and the freshly shaven faces and haircuts of the survivors.

I don’t want nor need not stop coverage of the mine event ... breaking in every hour or so for 10 minutes would be plenty and/or if anything unusual happened... not 27 minutes of every 1/2 hours. There is no way to predict if there will be breaking news or not... And considering Fox’s priority would they even broadcast a significant event if one happened... if it didn’t fit into the juvenile producers plans.

This is something never before done in the history of the world, and it’s an amazing technological feat.

Actually, it has. This type of rescue system was developed in the 1950s in Germany when a similar accident happened. And they started from scratch.

You don’t need to watch.
I’m sure hollywood is already working on the movie script.
We will be able to see the whole story from beginning to end in 2 short hours.

The JFK Assasination was covered on and on and rightly so, but this coverage seems too much over the top.
What gives?

<><><><><><

Surely there must be a white Bronco being chased at slow speeds on some highway somewhere in America.

Jeez, we can’t even make our own news.

"I bet you're real fun at parties."

You don't honestly believe that somebody would invite him to a party, do you? LOL. Glad to know that I'm not the only one that is sick to death of reading those "all TV is propaganda" BS.

"Have you noticed the Chilean President sticking his mug in every shot he can get into?"

Exactly what my DH and I were discussing last night. I would hope that if I was a president, I would be as far away from the camera as possible, telling the press that this was not about me.

The Chilean president is riding this event to the highest popularity that he has ever enjoyed. To see him before a podium with virtually every man rescued is sickening.

You're right though ... politicians are the same everywhere and it ain't pretty.

Me too. It's fascinating.

I've really admired the Chilean President. It's cold out there, and he seems genuinely concerned.

It really has become tiresome. We got it already. Enough.
