I have always been fascinated with history. If you are of like mind, then you will find this website interesting. Many of you found the WWII photo website I previously posted interesting.

I just killed four hours selecting old phots and then finding the same sight on Google Earth.
Many photos of Richmond, VA and Charleston, SC during the war between the states (is historic Charleston nice or what?)
Of course there are lesser areas, like Hanover Junction, PA but still interesting as one can see the same house and same station with street view as in the 1863 picture sans the railroad tracks. I just killed four hours selecting old phots and then finding the same sight on Google Earth.

Cool! Now I know what I’ll be doing this weekend.

I’m a big fan of Shorpy for old pictures. I’ve printed some of the high-res pictures of old NY, framed them, and did a wall in my office with them.
I can spend hours and hours looking at them and examining them for little details.
This looks very cool. May I add to your joy? Try www.shorpy.com. I think you’ll like it, too.
Try this: http://www.shorpy.com/ Over six hundred pages of old photo’s ... you don’t have to open and close pages, you go from one large picture to another.
Interesting site, thanks for the information. I wonder who runs it and if the funding for it will keep it alive for long?
Thanks — how intriguing. I’ve always loved photos of the “old days.” Thanks to all who listed Shorpy as a point of interest, as well.
thanks-
Bookmarked that.
Thanks.
Thanks for posting! I love the still images from history. As a picture taker myself.

Thanks Outlaw Woman. Good idea. In fact, may make a pretty good GGG topic. I’ll think about it for a while.
