Today’s second feature has Cesar Romero playing the Cisco Kid. I never would have guessed that one. And no, it is not a Barney Frank biopic.

The writer missed it big time on "The Westerner". Both Cooper and Brennan give solid performances, yet it's the interaction between the two in certain scenes that makes this film great. The barroom scene with the glasses, their waking up in bed together drunk, with Brennan's arm around Cooper, Brennan's dialog, the list just goes on.

While the background story is hackneyed, ranchers vs. farmers, it's the inclusion of Brennan's role as Judge Roy Bean, and what he did with it, that makes the movie. One of my favorites for sure.

"Mr. Harden, it's my duty to inform you that the larceny of an equine is a capital offense punishable by death, but you can rest assured that in this court a horse thief always gets a fair trial before he's hung."

Didn't the Cisco Kid have a sidekick in this one? Later movies in the series starred Duncan Renaldo as Cisco and featured Leo Carillo, a descendant of early California Spaniards, as the kid's sidekick.

An "inspirational" post Homer J.
It inspired me to dl 'The Westerner' for week-end viewing.

I did the same for "Foreign Affair" last week and have watched 2x's so far. Great scenery and, of course, great acting.
Thanks.

Enjoy. The barroom scene between Cooper and Brennan is one of my favorite scenes in film.
