JOLIET, Ill.- An Illinois roofers' union parked its inflatable rat outside of a Joliet church to protest the facility using non-union workers to do roof work.
The Rev. Matthew Robinson of Westminster Presbyterian Church in Joliet said members of the Local 11 roofers' union have been picketing in front of the church and placed a giant inflatable rat -- nicknamed Scabby -- in front of the facility, the Joliet Herald-News reported Friday.
"It's just ugly, and all people are seeing right now is a big yellow rat in front of our church," Robinson said. "Golly, we don't need that. That's not who we are."
Church members said the roof has been in need of work since it was damaged by a July fire caused by an electrical fire.
"We're a little church with aging members," Robinson said. "It's hard economic times right now."
inflatable rat, similar to that used in the protest.
Stupid unions...
Inflatable rat, huh?
Images of sling shots, pellet guns, bow and arrows are coursing through my mind.
Not that I’m advocating violence against the inflatable rat, mind you.
If it were being done by volunteers they’d be protesting too. They don’t like any kind of competition.
Maybe we should park a giant inflatable “goon” outside the union headquarters?
I can think of lots of names that would be more appropriate for the rat than Scabby.
Like it says in the bible, love the worker, HATE the union.
That’s redundant.
My cousin in law had the unions cut his air hoses at a apartment complex so he just move every thing to the roofs. Never mind that he had a one year old at home. Unions thugs just, well you know. I would love a union thug to come buy and start some thing with me.
The rt isn’t hurting the Church, nor does it throw a bad light on the Church, It only shows what a pack of A-holes placed it there.
The Reverend should go out and place a sign there telling who placed it and that they should seek forgiveness. The sign should also encourage everyone to patronise anyone else but the Union./
wow. i thot they only had those in new york.
The discerning eye looks right past the rat and sees the sewer from whence it sprung.
"This is a New York City rat," Robert Corrigan says, reaching into his bag and pulling out a nine-inch rodent.
PCUSA. Serves them right. *snicker*
I/d put up abig sign with an Arrow that says “Democrat Party Mascot”
Little terrorist organization.
What’s the bag limit on unions?
One well-aimed rifle shot to the head ought to rid the world of this rat!
