“...products like this only serve to normalise alcohol ....”
In my experience, people who talk like this (usually about tobacco products) also support needle exchanges, and “safe injection sites”. They are oblivious to the contradictions inherent in their positions.

Oh horsesh*t.
Rum cake has been around forever but you don’t hear little Cindy clamoring for some at her birthday party.

It's not Drunkenness that's a sin, but alcohol?
And it's not Adultery that's a sin, but sex?
Not Murder, but guns?
Incoherent babble that certainly is not drawn from either conservatism or Christianity.

Just like candy cigarettes cause children to smoke. Nothing to do with the fact that parents smoked.

Doc just to echo your point:
My father smoked and I ate candy cigarettes but I don’t smoke.
My parents didn’t drink hard liquor but I love my bar.
There is no correlation.

It has long been known that craving for sweets is an indicator of a higher propensity for alcohol abuse and the children of alcoholics are generally more attracted to sweets. There also appears to be a genetic component to alcoholism, although much behavior is learned rather than inherited. As a boozer and candy fan myself, I think it's a great idea - others may have a different view. And surely one of you old timers recognizes this...

I have many times enjoyed chocolate covered Maraschino cherries in brandy. I would love to see nanny stater Sarah Jaggard’s face after she popped one of them in her mouth. She is the type that would eat the entire box of them for herself.

An uncle teaching his nephews and nieces how to make Seven & Sevens also will tempt kids - especially when the kids discover that when they are darker they are better. :-)

Fudge, but not Strawberry daiquiris? WTF? Kids can't and shouldn't have it. It's everyone's responsibility to make sure kids don't get it, and don't seek it. Kids will, but it doesn't change the responsibility. We have willingly allowed the lines of kiddom and adulthood to become blurred. Young adults treated as kids, and kids treated like they're adults. This is everyone's responsibility - starting with the parents.

Okay, I could understand someone getting their panties in a twist over fudge flavored alcohol - but this is alcohol flavored fudge! It’s like saying coffee flavored ice cream makes kids want coffee, when in fact it simply ensures that my ice cream remains uneaten by the damned ankle-biters.
