A man was chased down by bystanders moments after he allegedly molested an 8-year-old girl in a Walmart store in San Leandro, the second such incident in the East Bay in less than two weeks.
The latest incident happened at the Walmart at 1919 Davis St. at about 7 p.m. Friday, when the girl was shopping with her family. Her brother became separated from them, and the girl volunteered to look for him, police said.
Soon afterward, the girl returned to her mother in tears and said a man had grabbed her from behind and had put his hand down her pants, police said.
She pointed him out to her mother, and the mother notified store employees.

There have always been child molesters, we just didn’t have the Internet to know how big the problem was.
I disagree. Certain forms of behavior are indicative of a sick mind that should be put down. Not in anger and not waving the shining sword of Justice, just put down like a rabid dog.
Child molesters are on that list, as are rapists in general. I'd add anyone who tortures animals for fun, engages in necrophilia or cannibalism, or who gains sexual gratification by viewing images of any of the above.
People like that are just too dangerous to be allowed to walk around free, and since I am not willing to pay to keep them locked up until they die, I think that the humane and civilized thing to do is kill them.
Not exactly the behavior of an innocent man.
OK, I just read another story on this and there were witnesses.
My problem with children accusing people of molesting them stems from the Fells Acres Day Care incident where a prosecutor and counselors got children to lie so they could ruin the day care providers lives. Turns out none of what the kids said was true yet the accused spent years in prison.

I’ve always maintained that castrating these guys is the best solution. The death penalty ought to be reserved for particularly nasty cases like Samantha Runyon.

Actually, the way to gain society’s forgiveness for animal abuse is to score six touchdowns in an NFL game and contend for league MVP. ;-)

You do realize that the death penalty doesn’t really save you anything, since it costs nearly twice the amount of money to house death row inmates as normal ones.

Yes, the slime bags have always been around, but I think there are many more today than there once were. And there are definitely more repeat offenders, as there was a time when this child’s father or brothers would have killed this roach or made him wish he was dead.

Except that in past times, there was no Internet to help them fuel their urges. In addition, it used to be that even if you had such proclivities, you wouldn’t be so monumentally stupid as to act on them in a public place.
It doesn’t help having idiots like Chris Hanson who think they’re heroes, but who really just end up legitimizing this sort of behavior.

Every society has unwritten rules that are enforced by its citizens, and strictly. They tend to change over time, but they are always there.
Girls in our society are taught all sorts of rules by the women and girls they meet. So it is time for a new rule to be added, for all females around the world.
Simple put, that all women and girls expect, demand, that all other women and girls carry a knife or other bladed weapon on their person when out in public, and that if attacked by a man, to cut him with it.
It truly needs to be “something that girls just do”. There is no place in the world that does not have a sharp piece of metal or even glass.
Admittedly, at first, when women cut men who attack them, some will be injured, or even killed. But many, many women are injured or killed right now, and achieve nothing in the process.
But when enough women start carrying bladed weapons, and start cutting men with them, there will be a momentous change.
A pause.
Men will pause before they attack a female, and in that moment, out of the fear of being cut, many men will decide to *not* attack. They won’t know which girls and women have knives, but it won’t matter, because they might. And that is enough.
It could change everything. Far fewer girls being grabbed by molesters. Far fewer rapes, even in the blur of alcohol by the rapist. Far fewer women beaten by their boyfriends and husbands.
It won’t end it all, but it could end a lot of it. And all that it takes is for some women to start carrying knives, and when asked why they are doing so by other women, to respond, “Carrying knives is just something that girls do.”
“Don’t you have a knife? You need one to cut a man if he attacks you. Here, I have an extra. I’ll loan it to you until you can get your own.”
“I would never go out in public without my knife. I’d just feel undressed.”
“All my daughters have their own knives. It’s the smart thing to do.”
“How desperate do you have to be to think you just have to grab a girl in a store feel her up and think you can get away with it?”
I honestly cannot understand the thought process behind such behavior. You can’t pick up a prostitute somewhere if you’re that desperate for an orgasm?
You almost have to wonder if a strait jacket, a padded room, and Thorazine is what’s really needed for someone that stupid.

Their perverse thrill is multiplied by the risk of getting caught.

Yeah, I think a few guys losing (or being threatened with the loss of) their male appendages might put a damper in such behavior.
