Wikileaks cable reveals U.S. conspired to retaliate against European nations if they resisted GMOs
Natural news ^ | December 24, 2010 | Mike Adams

Wikileaks continues to rock the political world by shedding light on conspiracies, corruption and cover-ups. The latest batch of diplomatic cables released by Wikileaks reveals what can only be characterized as a U.S.-led conspiracy to force GMOs onto European countries by making those countries pay a steep price if they resist.

The cable reveals the words of Craig Stapleton, the US ambassador to France, who was pushing the commercial interests of the biotech industry by attempting to force GMOs into France. In his own words (below), he expresses his frustration with the idea that France might pass environmental laws that would hamper the expansion of GMOs:

“Europe is moving backwards not forwards on this issue with France playing a leading role, along with Austria, Italy and even the [European] Commission… Moving to retaliation will make clear that the current path has real costs to EU interests and could help strengthen European pro-biotech voice.”

Got that so far? His own words: “Retaliation” as a way to “make [it] clear” that resisting GMOs will have a price.

Stapleton goes on to say something rather incredible:

“Country team Paris recommends that we calibrate a target retaliation list that causes some pain across the EU since this is a collective responsibility, but that also focuses in part on the worst culprits. The list should be measured rather than vicious and must be sustainable over the long term, since we should not expect an early victory…”

As you read these words again, remember that these are the words of the U.S. ambassador to France who is suggesting the US “calibrate a target retaliation list” in order to “cause some pain across the EU” that must be “sustainable over the long term.”

The overwhelming majority of Monsanto stockholders and employees are American citizens. The free market system is the ideal American economic system. To the extent that the government is involved in the management of American business it is fascism, which is why most economic regulation should be eliminated.

Sounds like he thinks Monsanto is a good buy. Whatever else may be said about Soros, he has demonstrated himself to be a shrewd investor. They idea that we should act against an American enterprise because he has a few shares of its stock is pretty funny.

Based on your answer, it is apparent you do not understand what GMO seeds are.

Oh, I understand 100%. I grow seed. I sell seed. I UNDERSTAND.

I do not need my State to tell me what its definition of organic is. Like some bureaucrat would know. LOL

So you think it would be just fine to have NO organic standards? So somebody could just go out and harvest seed, put it up for sale, and label it organic,, eventhough it isn't organic,, you think that would be okay?

Don't sell your state gov't officials short. Your state Dept of Ag has knowledgable people who are dedicated to labeling seed factually. I'm not much on gov't mucky mucks, either. But someone has to be the watchdog. And someone has to be authorized to hold dishonest seed sales to account.

Aren't all seeds created by God, organic?

Not if they've had commercial herbicides and pesticides used in the growing process.

Based on this statement, a GMO seed would pass the "organic" test. Just grow them on untreated soil and voila! organic, all natural veggies.

B I N G O ! ! ! Not many people have figured that loophole out, but you did!! If you have a list of GMO vegetables seeds available for commercial sales, I'd appreciate receiving it.

Soros is an opportunist who would do business with the Devil himself if he found it of some benefit. In fact, he did, during WW2 - Soros helped the Nazis transport Jews to concentration camps, and yes, Soros is Jewish. Soros’ rationale at the time was that someone would have done it so why not him? I believe he later wrote that it was one of the best and happiest times of his life.

Soros is a scumbag! Not everything he buys is trash. If he buys a glass of milk, does that mean I shouldn’t buy milk?

GM foods not served in Monsanto cafeteria

...there is a notice in the cafeteria of the Monsanto pharmaceutical factory is High Wycombe, Buckinghamshire, advising customers 'as far as practicable, GM soya and maize (has been removed) from all food products served in our restaurant. We have taken the steps to ensure that you, the customer, can feel confident in the food we serve.'

GMO are not labeled so your snarky comment about literacy is out of place.

In the US and Canada there is no law requiring them to be labeled.

European governments require the labeling and the producers comply.

Powder..patch..ball..FIRE!

The problem is that genetically modified crops produce sterile seeds. So the farmers have to keep buying new seed (from Monsanto) every year.

Incorrecto. The seeds retain the traits, keeping seed and replanting without paying is the issue.

” If you plant a non Monsanto crop and some of your crop gets contaminated w/ pollen from your neighbors GMO crop and you try to save or resell your seeds, Monsanto will come down on you like a ton of bricks and sue you for “copyright infringement” and take you to the cleaners. “

That’s interesting.

Can you point me to some examples for further reading?
