I agree with you..fair questions...it is just wanting basic information.
It is more than the frustration..its the worry and uncertainty and anger that maybe Freep is under attack from outside....After the last two years, we don’t sound “paranoid” anymore.

Don’t give up. We all get discouraged but FR is worth the wait.
Mr. Robinson is doing his best. We sometimes get overloaded

I too can only afford about 20.00 but I’m hanging in there.
it is slow and slow. wednesday night unable to get on at all. what is going on. all other conservative sites that I utilize including Michnews are quick response. free republic is like molasses in january, wait it is january.
I know that last winter FR had a crash that took out at least one server and it slimed programs. Don’t know if that server was replaced yet. The programs have to be rewritten. Jim said on the Yahoo Group that this weeks crash was a database error. FR is crippled and has been for awhile. It’s surprising to me that we are up and running with teh amount of traffic that we get.
Oh I know. I just wanted you to know that he is ok. It wasn't a troll threatening FR. :-)

I was particularly disappointed the other day when the Congress was being sworn in. The site was just ... not molasses .... lead.
If they have server issues....they are also receiving money in Freepathons.
Fix the stuff... or say, “We don’t have enough money.”
I find it hard to believe they can’t afford the technology.
I think anyone who knows computer science would find it hard to believe that it’s a money problem

I hope the FR servers/databases don’t crash one day and take out all the old posts. Just think of all the wit & wisdom stored on those hardrives — over a decade of FReeperdom’s collective genius.
BTW, is there any way a person can download all their old posts? Not that my posting history is anything worth crowing about particularly, but it would be neat to have access to the whole pile of it without having click through one page at a time.

The Mods remove crap and inappropriate posts all the time. Please cite where the Mods said nothing is ever removed.
I remember a vanity ballplayer posted which I was incorrect in asking it be pulled. I have since apologized to ballplayer for the action I took. ballplayer was correct and his vanity was correct. Thought I should clear up the information for you, DJ MacWoW.
If it's network related or a DDoS attack, the hardware infrastructure ain't got a lot to do with it and money won't fix it.
Jim and John bust their behinds to keep this thing running. Sit back, relax. If it's fixable by them, it'll get fixed. If it's not on the FR end, not much they can do about it.
Jim made his living in technology before he started FR. FR was a hobby at first. It is only a 2 man show and yet we get more traffic than MSNBC. FR has or had 8 servers at a site 2 hours from where the Robinsons are. Jim's son does the tech stuff. What you expect is a slick corporate run site. That's not FR. It will NEVER be FR. We are TRULY grassroots.
