Spaceweather - CORONAL HOLE
NASA ^ | Jan. 30, 2011 | SpaceWeather.com

CORONAL HOLE: A dark croissant-shaped hole has opened up in the sun's atmosphere, and it is spewing a stream of solar wind into space. NASA's Solar Dynamics Observatory took this picture of the vast opening during the early hours of Jan. 30th:

Researchers call this a "coronal hole." Solar rotation is turning the coronal hole toward Earth. The stream of solar wind pouring from it will swing around and hit our planet in early February, possibly sparking polar magnetic storms. High-latitude sky watchers should be alert for auroras between Feb. 2nd and 4th.

I’m sure it’s caused by human activity.

“Hole into sun’s interior shows darkness. What happened to the light shed by all of the fusion in there?” The guys at http://thunderbolts.info/home.htm love this stuff. Like the mystery of how the surface of the sun can be a million degrees cooler than the solar atmosphere, it provides the kind of puzzle that drives establishmentarians nuts.

Oh what the heck. Add me to your space weirdness list too. I’m always interested in the end of the world and all that good stuff.

Actually according to the Vedas no major destruction is going to happen for a long, long time. Major meaning “everything”; minor destruction is likely, though. Minor being anything that is not total!

:-)

There likely were filters used when that image was obtained. From space, our star/sun would appear as white, or slightly yellow.

But crazy is right.

You can really see it at 194 Angstrom (Green). The image corresponds to about 1.5 million Kelvin.

Hey Comedian - please add me to your “Space Energy/Solar Weirdness” list.

I wanna see if things can possibly be weirder out there than they are here.

Either it's full of stars

Or on the other had, just 3 stars.

Either way, it's a bad sign.

According to the NASA info, solar winds from this solar hole should hit Earth on Tuesday. Could that possibly bring us a little WARMTH? We could use some here in Pennsyltucky!

SOHO used Extreme Ultraviolet imaging taken at 304 Angstrom for this image. SOHO takes images at several extreme ultraviolet wavelengths. Beautiful photos.

If the internet gets shut down here in the US or abroad it will be because of an unpredicted much more serious event about to take place, we have all seen the movies and arguably I believe most nations leaders upon hearing of an event that will likely destroy, kill or injure most of the people will indeed pull the plugs, no cellphones, no TV, no twitter and all shortwave will be jammed.

Very few can find any quick communication plan short of lighting fires on top of mountains, the people will be kept in the dark.
