Toyota Camrys
Vanity | Feb. 4, 2011 | Self

Posted on 02/04/2011 5:56:12 AM PST by Graybeard58

I own(ed) a 2005 Toyota Corolla, that I bought new in 2005. I had 100,000 trouble free miles on it, it was a stick shift and the sticker said 36/42 mpg. and it got that and better up until two weeks ago when my son totaled it. All I ever did to it was regular maintenance, new tires, oil changes, new wiper blades and that's it.

I will be buying a 2011 car in the next few days and am seriously considering a new Camry, loaded with stuff for $19,990.

Anybody here have one? Anything to say about them, negative or positive?

How did he manage to do all that in a parking lot?

I'm on my third stick-shift Camry. It's a 2005. Darn it, if I don't have to change the oil every once in a while!

Are you saying you won’t follow Soetoro’s command to get a golf cart?

That’s the lot where it was taken after the wreck.

I would recommend the Scion Xb. It has the same Camry engine with a lot more room inside. It's also cheaper than a Camry.

Here in central Illinois, everything is frozen over but as far as I know, hell hasn't yet.

I don’t know if I’m ever going to buy a new car again if I can help it. Let someone else take the hit on the depreciation. Even though Toyota’s seem to do better in having less depreciation than most cars.

With all of the reports of recalls, Camry’s are still fine cars. They made them uglier than they used to be.

I have never seen deals on Camry’s that I have seen in the last 6 months. If you have wanted to buy one, there has never been a better time to do so.

My ‘92 Camry has 289,000 miles on it. Runs great. Does not use any oil either. Only major service issue was fixing an a/c leak at 200,000 miles.

I review cars. The Camry is still excellent, but why not also look at the Ford Fusion? Also, the Hyundai Sonata is great (though fugly), the Mazda 6 is also very nice, as is the VW Passat. You certainly can’t go wrong with the Camry, though.

Good luck!
Cheers
Jim

I would recommend the Scion Xb.

I don't care for that look, kinda boxy to me.

I bought a 2011 Camry in September - the best running car I think I have ever had, great on gas mileage.

My Corolla was a stick shift too and after driving it for almost 6 years, I gotta confess, I got a little tired of shifting.

It's a trade off, a little more comfort and a little less gas mileage.

Thank you, that's what I want to hear. I guess my mind is pretty well made up and I'm looking for conformation.

We’ve never owned a Camry, but had a Highlander with 130K on it. We changed oil every 5K miles and that’s it! Also owned a used first generation Prius - put 60k miles on it and sold it for more than I paid. Drove a second gen Prius over 200K. We now have a 2010 4Runner and a Tundra. Only complaint about any is the Tundra’s towing capacity. Re: the Scion: buy a Toyota made in the US, not a crap car made in China!

Thank you and lest anyone think I'm irresponsible for loaning my kid a car, he's no teenager he's 37 years old. He just hit a particularly bad patch of ice on I-74.

Mrs. F. has a 2001 Camry. About 135,000 miles on it now.

It's been great/reliable. Just standard routine maintenance.

Don’t buy a hybrid Camry. Someone in my immediate family has one, and I’ve driven it. It’s a real dog, and has a strange feel.
