‘Meet John Doe,’ an Inspiring Lesson in Americanism, . . .

Not an opening we would likely read in today’s NYT.

I not a big fan of Gary Cooper, I don’t think his acting is all that good, yet he seems to star in many of my favorite movies:
Meet John Doe
The Fountainhead
High Noon
Sgt. York
For Whom the Bell Tolls

This movie gets my vote for number one best ever. Convention sequence is brilliant allegory of Palm Sunday.

Mr Smith Goes to Washington and Mr Deeds Goes to Town are also in the top 5.

No. To the scumbag liberals, the words "inspiring lesson in Americanism" are as disgusting as "tax cuts", "merit pay", "personal responsibility", and "Ronald Reagan".

That’s Great!

I was just going to look for the movie online.

It’s amazing how many movies from that era are online.

Pamella Gellar has some Friday night movies on her site and they are invariably black and white. (Wait....can I still say that?)

It’s funny to go through the casts and see what names pop up. Alan Hale, Preston Foster... I remember watching a show called ‘Waterfront’ as a kid.
