Does anyone have a problem viewing videos on YouTube? (vanity)

Posted on 03/15/2011 9:00:22 PM PDT by greatdefender

I have a problem where I can't view videos on YouTube- where earlier on the day it was working fine. Also, I updated my Adobe Flash Player about almost a month ago. Is it the site is doing some upgrade or it is just my computer?

Yeah. I noticed that last night. In Firefox, the rest of any YouTube the page displays normally but the video window is black and there are no controls at the bottom of the window. That never happened for me before.

Safari however is working normally.

Me too! All of a sudden YouTube videos remain blank while the audio plays. Videos at other sites work fine.

I had the same problem for over a week. Very frustrating.

Finally found the fix because trying to click on the player - my “settings” tab was greyed out.

Here was the fix:

1)load this link: http://www.youtube.com/swf_test.html
2)right click on player (the settings tab finally appeared!)
3)click the setting and uncheck the “Enable hardware acceleration”
4)click “close”

:-(

Are you on IE or Firefox?

I switched to Google Chrome and now it works better than ever. I’m not getting the stalling that I used to get before.

I’m using Firefox!!

Thanks, Velveeta.

I usually get my son to fix things on the computer but he’s out of town for his job this week. I’ll see what I can do today. A lot of folks were having trouble yesterday so I was glad it wasn’t just me!
