Good News for Meat Lovers: Most Ready-to-Eat Meat Products Contain Very Few Cancerous Compounds, Study Finds

ScienceDaily (Mar. 23, 2011) — If given the choice between eating a hot dog or enjoying some rotisserie chicken, consider the hot dog.

That's because hot dogs, as well as pepperoni and deli meats, are relatively free of carcinogenic compounds, according to Kansas State University research. But it's a not-so-happy ending for bacon and rotisserie chicken -- especially chicken skin -- because both have higher levels of cancerous material.

“Based on this research, HCA consumption can be reduced by not eating chicken skin,” he said.”

There goes the Schmaltz.

“I love hot dogs with chili and onions, but with mustard, ketchup and relish is good, too. There’s a great hot dog place in Worcester. Coney Island hot dogs. Yum.”

Try one with this:

Chicago Dogs are my favorite!! Portillos in Chicago-land originals!

This is the BEST STORY OF THE DAY--am downright giddy!! I have sustained from hot dogs for a long time now--cheat once or twice a year maybe, try to eat healthy!! Buy rotisserie chicken, do not eat the skin but have been rather skeptical lately on the juiciness of the meat while enjoying it.

Gone To Lunch!

I wonder if this has to do with sodium content.

Packaged products have a ton of sodium.

Just when I was ready to release my new creation, the All American dog clad in bacon wrapped in charred chicken skin. This news is not good.

Potillo’s has the best hot dog and MAGNIFICENT Italian Beef. I am an addict. Love Chicago dogs, and get my fix at Portillo’s (live in Chicago burbs).

Lean fresh meat is a clear winner above anything. Whatever the particular “meat” is. The less processing has to be done to it, the less additives that are added to it, the better.

Nitrates as well as msg need to be avoided. Also, cured and prepared meats can come from wholly unhealthy animals. The antibiotics, hormones, and diseases of these beasts are not good to eat.

There is nothing wrong with organic, nitrate free hot dogs with nothing on the label that could be a euphemism for MSG, though. Read your labels carefully.

Whew! That’s got to be some hot stuff! I like spicy. It makes me glow right across the middle of my face, and looks like a light sunburn. We have so many different kinds of hot sauce in our refrigerator door that there’s almost no room for anything else. :)
