Firefox 4? Likes? Dislikes?
Posted on 04/03/2011 4:36:57 AM PDT by djf
OK, so I gave in and downloaded it to a test machine (not this one for testing).
Seems to be MUCH faster. Not sure I like the layout. Kinda wish they had allowed us to fit the version 4 code into the version 3.x gui...
Comments? Tricks? Anybody find any nuggets here?

Ghostery looks interesting.
How effective is it?

Seems to work as advertised. It's amazing how many trackers there are out there. I was just at Glenn Becks Blaze website and he's got 7 of them.
If you install it, I recommend that you set it to block all web bugs, turn off all notifications, and to install updates to the bug list automatically.

Well, it was intentional; I’m not sure if it’s a fact or a gaffe. :-)

That’s for their 2go version that lets you sync between computers. The standalone desktop upgrade was a flat 9.95 fee from version 6 to version 7 without an annual continuity fee. They’re pushing the 2go version because of the steady income. Didn’t take them up on it.

I have IE7 on one of my XP machines and it’s OK, nothing there to write home about though.
Seems like most of the browsers are tending towards a standard type GUI. It’s what’s underneath that counts, for instance I know FF v3.x had alot of trouble with some Java stuff I use. Hopefully, v4 is more in compliance.

Yep, that refresh button is my only complaint at this point. Hope you saw the fix offered in posts #33 and #34. If not, I copied it for you below.
You can move those buttons. Right click one of the buttons, click customize, and then drag the button to where you want it.

That’s interesting. The back button works fine for me on FR. I wonder what the difference is between those for whom it works and those for whom it doesn’t.

Only down side Ive seen is that it doesnt integrate well with Roboform. Try Xmarks or Firefox Sync plugins instead!
Xmarks works well across Windows, Mac & Linux.
Firefox Sync, not so much.

Been using it for I don’t know, 4 months or so - through about 6 cycles or so of Beta. Totally love it. Very fast, and very stable and now compatibility with sites like Evernote and compatibility with add-ons isn’t a problem. Big thumbs up.
