One week til it opens. Anticipation High.

Atlas Shrugged Site

IMDb Site

Rotten Tomatoes Site -- wow, right now a whopping 82??

First of 3 in series if box office is good.

DO read the book if you have not done so. It is long but doable in a week. Get paperback at local Bookstore etc. Understand most libraries have waiting lists

Larry, before it was scheduled here, I was planning on making the trip to Pittsburgh to see it.

If you & some friends can come to Cleveland area for early showing on Friday we can sit together & grab a meal before you leave for home. First showing is only 5.00

let me know. I know that pesky thing called work might get in the way of this brilliant idea.

Pack a car with Patriots & drive to closest city. We must support this movie. would be a fun group trip

I am going to see Hannah today & maybe Soul Surfer & Your Highness over the next few days. All trailers look interesting.

Woohoo! A third one in Ohio. Still none close to me, but it might be worth a road trip to Columbus to show my support for the movie, and I just about never go to the movies at first run theaters.

What’s “cool beans” is that it’s opening on April 15th (Yes, I know that we don’t have to pay our tribute to the federal government until April 18th this year).

Headin’ to Greenville (SC) to catch it next week.

Thanks for the ping, Dolly. I am hopeful that between now and the 15th a theater somewhere in our very conservative central valley will be added the list. I can't believe all the liberal strongholds where the movie is scheduled to play: the San Francisco Bay Area and East Bay, Santa Barbara, and many locations in L.A. I just don't see liberals (those liberals who have any clue what this movie is about) flocking to see this movie, unless it is to mock and ridicule everything about it.

With each new trailer I see I am more sure that this is going to be an excellent movie. The "Rearden comes home" preview was great. Lillian Rearden comes across on screen just as pathetic and repulsive an individual as she does in the book. Casting did a wonderful job, IMO. They could have sexed it up with big name Angelina and Brad Pitt type actors, but to their credit, they didn't. From the clips I have seen, the actors they chose do a good job portraying the characters in the book.

So far, I have not seen a clip with Francisco (my favorite character in the book). I was prepared to be disappointed with their choice to act his part. But, judging by the photos I have seen of Jsu Garcia, he looks to be perfect for the part.

Just from the clips I've seen so far (unlike her disappointment in the movie version of The Fountainhead), I think Ayn Rand would be very pleased with this movie's portrayal of her novel. Even though it opposes everything she believed, I would like to think she is "somewhere", very much aware of the production of this movie and is smiling approvingly.

“Yes, I know that we don’t have to pay our tribute to the federal government until April 18th this year”.

****************

And how ironic that it is because D.C. is observing Immancipation Day on the 15th. We are all slaves now.

Dolly you have no idea how wonderful this sounds and how tempting it is just to whip out the credit card and buy the plane tickets. Why should we exercise responsible budgeting when our government hasn't for decades?

But I am afraid it's just not doable. My son (a three hours drive north) asked if we could come up for the weekend and go with them to a theater in the East Bay and see it. We can't even get away from our business long enough to do that. Can't leave the studio with appointments on the books. But, you know, it really is tempting to just say the heck with it and just go. I am really tired of living responsibly when it just doesn't seem to pay off anymore.

Thanks for the invitation, Dolly. If there was any possible way to swing this, we'd be there. SMOOOOOOOOCHIES backatcha!
