Help! My Hotmail Account is Blocked!!!
Self | April 18, 2011 | PJ-Comix

Help! I went to sign in to my Hotmail account and I got a message that it was blocked because it was sending out spam emails. Then it asked from my mobile phone number to send me a code. I did that but no code sent. I tried other methods to unblock my hotmail via web research but each method requires me to sign in to MSN which is blocked to me.

Phone support is not available to me since I don't have a paid account. Okay, so how do I regain access to my blocked hotmail account without having to sign in since it won't permit me to do so?

I love how some folks are saying how simple it is to find out the support addy for hotmail. Guess what? I’ve been googling for about an hour and still haven’t found that addy. If I can find it I would email them from another email account but WHAT is their addy. If anybody thinks it is easy to find, then try and find it.

Ooops, going by your thank you to labette, you were not making a joke about being “blocked”. Leave it to me to go right to the bathroom humor....oh well.

I’ll do an “Emily Litella” from SNL when it was good, and say

“Oh, never mind.”

: )

An oatmeal cookie to the first person who can actually find the REAL hotmail support addy. Odd as it sounds, it is near impossible to find. Does it even exist?

You’ve got more FReepmail. Could be that bad guy on your system was not related to the problem accessing hotmail, though.

This support email below used to work. Not sure if it still does. Worth a try:

support@hotmail.com

A friend of ours recently had the same trouble as this thread is discussing. My husband got spam from him, and when he called him about it, the poor guy said he was getting lots of calls about it. Not sure if he was also “blocked” from his account though.

Let’s look on the bright side:

Our friend PJ will probably get a chance to catch up with a few old acquaintances :)

Nope that doesn’t work either. Everything you need to do still requires a sign-in and when I do sign-in...account blocked. I can’t enter my mobile phone # for them to send the code because, guess what, that requires a sign-in.

I just sent an email to support@hotmail.com and immediately got a robot reply telling me to log into my hotmail account for help. Problem is I can’t log into my hotmail account to get that help.

Faecpalm

{not you, the support}

The key difference in your case and mine MAY be the timing.

I caught this early and was able to switch passwords before hotmail shut down my account.

Try this...

http://windowslivehelp.com/solution.aspx?solutionid=f172cbee-3c73-4506-8a1d-4e6e82adb846

About a third of the way down the page it gives you a link (”here”) to supposedly get to somebody who can help.

Problem is when I clicked “Here” I was then prompted to sign in. When I tried to sign in, guess what? Account blocked.

I figured out that when you are in Hotmail Purgatory when your hotmail account is blocked. When that happens you are trapped in an endless maze of Catch-22 solutions which consist of logging in to get an answer BUT you can't log in because you are BLOCKED. I even tried to find a solution by going on my wife's computer and signing into Hotmail via her account to go to the Help Center. So what is the "Help" provided? You merely post a thread on a forum where you are supposed to receive replies from other users. BTW, there are apparently THOUSANDS of people now in HotMail Purgatory since almost none has gotten a solution to their login problem. Almost nobody even gets the code on their mobile phone. Of course, the solution would be to send you the code via e-mail to another addy but they don't seem to have that in their fix box.

So currently I am now residing in HotMail Purgatory...hopefully not for all eternity.

Sorry to be the bearer of bad news, but kiss that account goodbye. When you lose the password to a conventional e-mail account such as you get from your Internet provider (or have the password changed on you by a hacker, in your case), recovery is a simple matter because your provider knows who you are. Your Internet service is set up with them at a specified street address, with the e-mail account as a feature of that service. You just have them reset the password and send you an auto-generated replacement. But when you open an account with Gmail, Hotmail or other free public e-mail-only service operating "in the cloud", the service doesn't know who you are. When you contact them claiming that you have lost your password, they ask for some personal information related to the account. After a couple of days you get a form response saying they could not verify that this is your account, and you're screwed. Just walk away, sign up for another free public account, and use it to tell all your friends that your old address is now lost to a Russian spammer.

I’ve just checked, PJ, on Windows Live ID Forums microsofties respond to queries. There’s no other support option from MS.
