Video: At Heritage, Rep. Allen West Examines the 21st Century Battlefield

Today Rep. Allen West (R-FL) addressed a packed crowd at The Heritage Foundation to discuss how the battlefield in the 21st century has necessitated a change in military strategy.

The speech was the closing event for Protect America Month, an annual series of events highlighting the importance of funding our military.

The Washington Post immediately posted their coverage of Rep. West’s remarks, noting:

In making the case for increased military spending, West, a retired Army veteran, drew upon several anecdotes from his 22 years of military service, telling the audience that at times, “my friends who were in tank units had to use golf carts to practice tank tactics.”

His speeches are usually powerful.

Unfortunately, he has too much sense to run for President in 2012.

Bravo -- a great and important speech and an even more revealing Q&A session. What strikes me about Allen West, like several other new Conservative leaders, is his clear and direct way of speaking. Is is refreshing to listen to a Conservative statesman who knows what he believes and espouses his views with confidence and clarity.

Note for future reference:
If a politician speaks clearly and directly, he truly believes what he is saying. (e.g. Reagan, Palin, Cain, West)
If a politician does not speak clearly and directly, he does not believe what he is saying. (e.g. Dole, McCain, Huntsman...)

He does a good job. A good job like many people who know their business and are good at it. Speaking for 45 minutes from ideals, not a teleprompter. You gotta know your subject.

He is impressive as are so many of our military and lots of other people who are out making a living every day. They are American to the core, not politicians.

Thanks for this. Finally got the time to listen to it all, and he did not disappoint. How I wish there were four hundred more like him on the Hill!
