Yesterday morning in Sofia, Bulgaria, anti-Communist street artists painted over a monument commemorating the 10th anniversary of the Soviet "liberation" (i.e. a Communist coup d'état) of Bulgaria in 1944. Who did they add to the statue? The Joker, among others.

Not supportive of vandalism, but in this case, on a soviet monument, I kind of like it...

It’s brilliant!
Sorry, oppressive art is still oppressive. Live under that oppression and one wants to destroy the idea. I love that Captain America is in there.

The American flag is a nice touch. Good to know some people still love this country.

I wonder how long it will take eastern european governments to get sick of all the soviet memorials the commies erected while occupying their lands.
The one in the Tiergarten in Berlin has got to stick in the German's craw after all these years.

The one in the Tiergarten in Berlin has got to stick in the German's craw after all these years. Well the Germans started the war, so in this case it's deserved.

That would explain a memorial to the allies less the soviets (who do not have one there).
Hitler simply beat Stalin to the punch, and raped & murdered his way to victory. A soviet memorial sends the wrong message.

(the soviets) raped & murdered their way to victory, I mean.
Expect for the widespread rape part, there was little difference in the way the nazis & soviets waged war.
