LOUISVILLE, Ky. (WDRB) -- Tips are now coming in for a story we first brought you last week involving a woman who lost her hand in a road rage crash.

It's not a crash that 52-year-old Pamela Price will ever forget.

"I have nightmares every time I go to sleep," says Pamela Price.

On Friday, Pamela was released from University Hospital after a more than two week stay.

It all stemmed from a Memorial Day crash.

The New Albany woman says she passed a car as she was heading westbound on Indiana 265, that then sped up and she says intentionally caused her to crash.

"There was no doubt about it. Just as soon as he pulled over in front of me he stomped his brakes on," says Pamela Price.

Pamela says the white man, who appeared to be in his mid-50's, with salt and pepper colored hair, drove away in his black Lincoln, which had Indiana license plates.

Pamela crashed and was ejected from her truck. Luckily, a nurse and man with a cooler stopped to help. Her hand had to be re-attached.

Sounds like she panicked and is an unsafe driver.

If her story is true, then the other guy might be a hot head.

Years ago we were attacked in a road rage incident. We had a baby in the car, and this guy (who was mad at us I think for traveling too slowly) sped up, pulled in front of us, and backed into us, stopping and screeching his brakes, all at high speed.

He did it several times. This was on a major thoroughfare with a lot of witnesses. We did nothing to make him that mad. I’ll never forget it.

IMHO, this guy is probably not with us today. People that get that angry and are that reckless on the road end up out of the gene pool. I just hope he didn’t take anyone else with him.

It usually takes two to road rage. She likely wasn’t brake-jacked for no reason.

I had something similar occur out on a country road when I encountered a truck full of yoots.

I got a CHL within the month.

Sounds like she had her hand out the window, rolled and that caused the amputation. Hard to say. The story is lacking in details.

It doesn't sound like she was merely being passive, if she were, she would merely have slowed down and when he braked she would have braked also, instead she totally wrecks and is ejected from the vehicle, something is wrong with her driving.

BS stories always have the bad guy driving away in a black car.

I'm just sayin.

Road rage does happen for no reason
You can set off a nut for absolutely no rational reason
Going too slow, trying to pass, pulling into his traffic lane, blowing your horn, or just for looking sideways

Ever try to pass someone on a country road at night? Think you deserve death for that?

One night some years ago we pulled out to pass another driver and this enraged him, he repeatedly sped up, slowed down, wouldn’t let us pass, wouldn’t let us not pass, and for several wracking minutes refused to let our family back into the lane, even though a truck was coming at us head on

Luckily we braked and slipped in behind him just as the truck went by, then he played the “hit the brakes” routine
Then the nut kept going, is still out there as far as anyone could tell

Sometimes when there is a fatal accident for no known cause I wonder if someone caused it out of rage

She is engaged in a road rage incident, at the conclusion of which, the guy does the oldest, most common, angry, FU goodbye of all, he speeds ahead of her and brakes menacingly.

She knew the situation, she watched all this taking place, and she watched him accelerating to get in front of her, yet without even any actual contact, she some how manages to have a violent wreck that breaks her out of her seat belt and causes a serious, single vehicle accident, so violent that she is ejected.

This woman was up to more than simply trying to mind her own business.

I had a couple of instances in dealing wit buffoons on the road. One time back in 1985 and back in the 55 mph days, I was traveling through Southern Ohio on a 4 lane divided highway, I came up behind a left lane bandit. You had cars in the right lane doing 50 or 55. When an open came up, the LLB would not move over and when there was an opening in the right lane, I try to pass him and he would speed up and I would be doing 65 or 70 until I encounter a car in the right lane. I then go back to the left lane and he would drop the speed back to 55. After trying to pass several times, I was finally able to get around him and he started blink his lights and honk horns and was pointing to his dash.

Antoerh instance was recently in California. There were dual left turn lanes to get to the on-ramp for the interstate. In the right lane was a truck and in the left was a vehicle like a Suzuki Sidekick. As soon as the light turned green, the truck took off at a good speed, not typical of work trucks. The Sidekick which had an older woman inside took off and drove very slowly on the turn. I thought, she is going to merge onto the highway so slowly so I went into the right lane and passed her then she speeded up and look in the mirror, I got shaking fist and a middle digit. Looking bac in the mirror, she was going onto the highway pretty slowly. I usually like to be going 70 mph when I merge on.

This happened to my son last night.

He tried to pass a car. The car moved into his lane, then slowed way down.

My son waited, then tried to pass on the right. (I know, bad move - but it is done here all the time.)

The car then sped up and deliberately swerved into my son and drove him off the road.

My son almost hit a telephone pole.

As the car sped off, the driver flipped him off.

There are jerks everywhere.

A few years ago, on my way home from work (night-shift) .. I had some azzhat tail-gating me on the interstate.

I’d speed up and so would he.
I’d change lanes and so would he.

I finally got pi$$ed to the point that after the 4th or 5th time of speeding up and having this guy on my a$$ .. I slammed on the brakes!

Luckily .. The azzhat behind me knew how to drive .. He was a ‘cop’! 8(

An acquaintence of mine ran off the road and plowed into a huge stump a couple of blocks from his house, totaling his pickup. He had swerved to avoid a deer.

At least that is what he told the cops. What really happened is that he was so drunk he could not drive and just, well, ran off the road. Without more detail, I’m guessing this story is similarly fabricated, though there may not be alcohol involved.

I’ve always made a distinction between a psycho behind the wheel and road rage. Anybody who has driven for very long has encountered one. Best thing to do is back off, let them go, get off that road and change routes. My example would be the first day driving back to the office after my father passed away.

I was driving carefully because I felt out of it, had felt that way since I got the call, to come to the hospital. Almost to the office, pulled up behind an older GM sedan, elderly black man driving. It was in town, so traffic in several lanes, we were in the left. He puttered on after the green light, me in no hurry either, he moved right and we coast up to the next light, then stop.

I see him gesticulating out of the corner of my eye, I thought he was trying to tell me something was wrong with my car, low tire or something. Let the passenger window down and asked him what was wrong. “Why you shine a light down on me, mother&*Y#er, I’ll bust a cap in your @#$,” then incoherent rambling rising in volume and pitch. Took a while to separate myself, we were in traffic, and he was brandishing a gun by that time.

So, I know that can happen. That wasn’t road rage to me, he was just nuts. All I can figure is, the car was practically new and had those bluish halogens, maybe he thought they were high beams? I don’t know. It was weird.

The lady in question certainly was following closely, for someone hitting the brakes to send her off the road. She doesn’t sound all that uninvolved to me.
