Am I the only one that notices LAZY ignorant people?

Man oh man. What is happening to our society? Where are all of these people coming from all of the sudden? People parking in Handicapped spots that walk completely fine and then pull down the placard as they drive away. Ignorant people that cut in line at the deli, amusement park or shows. Parents on cell phone calls as their crazed kids run around uncontrollably. I ain't perfect, nor am I one of those people that said "when I was young..." Because I feel a lot of these teens have more "manners" than most adults and younger kids. WTH is going on? There is no shame and when you confront these people they completely act as if you were not there and ignore you! I find it amazing and it is getting worse at an alarming rate. Does anyone else notice this?

Not all disabilities are visible to the casual observer, true. However there is wide spread abuse of the handicapped tag program.

I’ve seen too many people park in the handicapped spots and then go running in to the store to believe otherwise.

Can you believe it?<<

If I were you, I’d have called the cops! ;-)

Re your keywords: Fat does not equate with lazy and ignorant. Throwing that in is rude.

YES - how about this story. Went to the beach this weekend. Was sitting on under the umbrella when this little boy runs by and then stops a few paces away, turns around and starts crying “Mommy!” Got up and rushed over and asked him if he was OK and confirmed he was lost. I took his hand and we started walking through the crowds of people and asking him if he saw her anywhere. He told me they were staying in a blue tent so I started searching for those. After about 10 minutes and probably a football field away, here comes this man who says “He’s mine...” I knelt down and asked the boy if that was his dad? the man said “No, I’m his uncle...” He said thanks and took his hand and started leading him away. I wasn’t satisfied with this because the boy had asked for his mom and he still looked confused. So I followed them back up to their tent and a lady came out. She casually asked, “Where was he?” The man replied “Some lady found him.” So I walked up to her and asked, “Are you his mom?” She replied “Oh yeah. I was in the ocean with him one minute and then next he was gone.” I was shocked. I asked how old he was? She said he was 3 1/2. WTH!!??? This stupid woman is hanging out in here freaking tent while her toddler is missing on a HUGE beach rather than running up and down the dunes screaming his name, asking people to help or getting the lifeguards to help. I couldn’t believe it. I think I must have given her a death look or something because she started making up more excuses about having to watch her OTHER kid blah blah blah. THEN as I was walking back completely floored by this, several people stopped me and said, “Oh we saw him walk by too, that was nice of you to find his mom.” WHAT THE HELL!!??? These people saw this poor kid walking by looking lost and they didn’t help!? Yes...people suck.

It crosses all age, color and ethnic boundaries. Gimme gimme gimme and have someone else pay for it. Adults who live with their parents on a long term basis. People who view taking care of their neighborhoods as the government’s responsibility. Trash on the ground and no one picking it up. Everyone waiting for someone else to make their lives better. And way too many people boiling over with resentment that they haven’t been handed the good life. The world not only owes them a living but owes them their dream life. I could go on and on about this topic. I better stop before I blow a gasket. It suffices to say that the Number 1 Reason I am a conservative is because I am sick of everyone sticking their hand out and expecting someone else to provide them the good life.

Yes. Every day. No one has respect, fear of consequences, and no morals.

My Dad used to say, “If you allowed yourself to get surrounded by idiots, whats that make you?”

I am not calling you an idiot.

But there are days when I simply look around in amazement. I used to point it out to my kids and say, “You see...you don’t even have to try real hard to beat these folks in the game of life.”

:-)

Reminds me of a comedy routine: “So, I see this guy park in a handicapped spot and he was perfectly fine, so I beat him up. Then when his mom got out of the other side of the car, I beat her up with her crutches.

I think you nailed it when you said people have no shame.

I'm not that old but I'm old enough to remember when it was considered shameful to go on welfare, or get special accommodations for a "handicap", etc. It was considered honorable to work for a living even if your job was slinging hash at a diner or loading cargo onto airplanes (as my father did). No form of honest work was looked down upon and people were embarrassed as hell to show up at the supermarket with food stamps, so many made sure that never happened to them.

Now we hand out "food stamps" in the form of an ATM card and people go shopping with them proud as punch and have no desire to go to work lest the gravy train come to an end. Many able-bodied adults are content to grab a government check and sit around the TV at home.

On the subject of supermarkets, one thing I see a lot more of these days is those motorized shopping carts "for the convenience of our customers." Usually you got some fatso wheeling around in those things in sweatpants and sneakers, filling up the cart with Ho-Hos and Twinkies.

A lot of people have no pride in themselves, or feel shame.

Most curbs inside parking lots are designated as fire zones. It is illegal to park in a fire zone.

Prime example: the “poor” woman in Minnesota with 8 kids who, because of the state budget shutdown, isn’t getting her $43,000 a year in state aid.

I walked out of a food store one day and a lady was parked in a handicap spot. I looked for a sticker, there was none. As I was looking I noticed she had a sign board in the Back. she was a jazzersize instructor.

whats worse is they BREED!

first off...yeah lots of lazy people out there in America today...and sometimes I wonder about some who use the placard.......but unless you are a doctor, do not be critical of what you do not know.

I will not burden anyone with my list of maladies...suffice it to say that when I begged my doctor for a cure...she gave me the filled out paperwork for the placard instead and an apology.

btw...on the placard it states plainly that it needs to be removed when not parked as it blocks ones vision (which it does)...and new ones have the last few digits of your drivers license on it so if a cop asks to see your license (or DMV ID) and it does not match the number, there is a serious fine that can be levied.

sometimes the pain makes me limp like the walking wounded and other times...(the pain is always there) I can buck up and walk almost normally....I have a 10-20 minute walking time before I need to stop and sit...so I get a shopping cart to buoy me up if one is available....even if I dont need to buy more than one object...

Just saying...please do not assume.

Interesting thread.

The core observation is basically: Society has gone downhill and many people seem to think only of themselves and make no effort to follow accepted rules and standards.

And an overwhelming number of replies seem to follow along the lines of "How dare you criticize people who park in handicapped spots! You don't know my situation! My situation entitles me to do what I'm doing! Don't take that tone with me!"

Hmmmmmmmm.

How could you possibly know if they were handicapped or not?

I know where you are coming from. I smashed my foot back in January. The doctor never actually told me how many bones I broke-I don't think he even knows for sure. Anyway, I have a temporary handicap card and believe me, I use it, because walking more than a few dozen feet is quite a trial for me even now. The problem is, since I was permitted to discard the walking boot I look perfectly healthy. I don't limp precisely because I am working hard not to: at my age a limp can become permanent. So far I haven't been confronted or keyed, but it crosses my mind.

>>There are no rules.
There are no standards.
Reality is what you can get away with.<<

I think you’ve nailed it. We are seeing the results of living in a “situational ethics” culture. And when each of us is his own god, it’s easy to rationalize your activity as proper. I hate to admit it, but I am guilty. If there are no cops around, I hardly ever wait for a red left turn arrow to turn green before I turn if there is no traffic. I’m trying to do better.
